It is set in the early 1900s in rural Montana and is heart warming and beautifully written. They are both mildly suspenseful with a mystery at the center but super interesting portrait of upper class, white Midwest America. Very well written and great story telling. A must read and if you don't want to read it was on Radio 4 back in the winter BBC Radio 4 - Drama, The Plague currently not usable but might be on BoB. Read it originally when I was about 17/18 as I got hooked on existentialism and Camus doing Les Justes (Camus) with Les Mains Sales (Sartre) for A Level. Her spirit follows the tour with a replacement guide and their adventures. An interesting read about Burma and its people and the junta.
