Don’t dress them in loose clothing as it can get caught on things easily. Let them wear comfortable clothing, such as stretchy jeans, leggings, normal t-shirt or long sleeved shirts. Wearing tight fitting pants/jeans can make play uncomfortable and wearing shorts or skirts can cause the child to get burned when going on playground equipment on a sunny day. Shoes with good traction help with preventing slips on loose flooring and slippery floors. Hats and sunblock are needed to prevent sunburns and to promote healthy habits of  taking care of your skin.

Towels and sanitizing wipes to clean off any wet equipment. Diapers and toilet wipes are great if they haven’t been fully potty trained yet. This helps prevent having to take your children into public bathrooms. If you have one, you can even bring a portable potty in the car, so instead of using the public restroom they can use the portable potty in the car or in the bathroom. This isn’t needed but it is an idea if you are driving to the park and don’t want them to be uncomfortable having to hover over the big toilets in the park restrooms.

When at the park with your toddlers, you don’t want to be wearing the bag the whole time, especially if you need to act fast, so set it down in a close by area, preferably by a bench.

Checking to see if there are any fluids, poop or even dangerous items on the playground is very helpful. Playgrounds aren’t the cleanest place, however if it is a dry day and there is a weird fluid on the playground it would be best to clean it with a towel or paper towels. If you have doggy bags or if the park provides doggy bags, picking up any animal poop is also safe since a toddler might touch it or even put it in their mouth. Do not hover over them because it can intimidate a child and prevent them from exploring, but do be very nearby. Do not help them too much, because this can prevent them from problem solving. Controlling your emotions is also very important, if you are constantly anxious about your toddler trying something new, this can cause your child to become anxious themselves and not want to do it anymore.
