The knowledge and the awe made him savage" (Golding 44).
"Ralph too was fighting to get near, to get a handful of that brown, vulnerable flesh. The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering" (Golding 114/115).
"I'm frightened.

Explanation: The song talks about how when everything goes wrong a "demon" inside of a person begins to come out. It says "I wanna hide the truth, I wanna shelter you but with the beast inside, There's nowhere we can hide" which relates to the book because on page 91 Ralph tries to restore order by asking what the grownups would think, but in the end every try for civility fails.

William Golding used personification to enhance his writing in Lord of the Flies. It enhanced his writing by causing the book to come alive and feel more real to the reader.
Direct Quotes:
"When the breezes reached the platform the palm fronds would whisper, so that spots of blurred sunlight slid over their bodies or moved like bright, winged things in the shade" (Golding 15).
"The air was dark here too, and the creepers dropped their ropes like the rigging of foundered ships" (Golding 56).
"The darkness seemed to flow around them like a tide" (Golding 120).
"Then the sea breathed again in a long, slow sigh, the water boiled white and pink over the rock; and when it went, sucking back again, the body of Piggy was gone" (Golding 181).
