Simon is one of the friendlier boys in the group. He is willing to help the littluns pick fruit that is out of their reach and giving Piggy some of his food when he is not given any. He seems to adapt to his environment quickly and, even though he is friendly, he likes being alone.

Simon is one of the nicest people on the island. He is very nice to Piggy, even though nobody else is. He tries to help everyone even the littluns pick fruit that they cannot reach. "Simon, sitting between the twins and Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it" (Golding 75).

Jack is a older child who seems to have adapted to the island better than most. Through hunting animals he has become hysterical with his obsession with the pigs. Piggy is an older child who has many things wrong with him. He's chubby, has asthma, and wears glasses. He has many good ideas but the other kids don't listen even when he has the conch. he has chosen to be responsible, and take care of doing important tasks like building shelters. He tries very hard to

Percival is one of the smallest littluns who is very homesick and very sensitive about the situation. He is described as the color of a mouse and not visually appealing. He cries over every little thing that happens to him and all he wants is to return home where he feels safe. Roger is a mean, unkind, cruel, and unhelpful biggun who messes around with the little 'uns.

did nothing to help the little 'un who was crying in pain. Even though he feels like he is superior

to the little 'uns, he has not yet challenged Ralph or Jack or has really talked to them during

Roger is a little mysterious and shy like he is hiding a secret. He doesn't go with the group, instead he watching from afar, hidden in the trees. When people see him watching he gets scared as if he was doing a crime. Roger has an expression of being dark in the shadows. "Roger remained, watching the littluns. He was not noticeably darker than when he had dropped in, but the shock of black hair, down his nape and low forehead, seemed to suit his gloomy face and made what had seemed at first an unsociable remoteness into something forbidding" (Golding 60)

The littluns are the younger crowd on the island who are trying to to survive with the instructions of the biguns. They are very innocent and playful, not aware of the grave danger that could come with being stuck on an island. Percival always says his full name. He is very proper. Roger and Maurice throw rocks at him while he is building sand castles with Johnny and Henry.

Simon is the quietest of the three leaders. Ralph chooses Simon to accompany Jack and himself on the first expedition to explore the island.

He is clearly the third wheel in Jack and Ralph's friendship. He has a bit of mystery about him and as the plot progresses I think he and his thoughts will take on a more important role. "Simon paused. He looked over his shoulder....and glanced swiftly around to confirm he was alone.... Then he bent down and wormed his way into the mat"(Golding 52).

The deceitful twins that are the "class clowns" of the choir. They are usually up to no good, but they do treat Jack with respect as their leader. Sam and Eric like to make the littluns' and biguns' laugh, but together make a mischievous team. "The two boys, bullet-headed with hair like two, flung themselves down and lay grinning and panting at Ralph like dogs. They were twins, and the eye was shocked and incredulous at such cheery duplication.They breathed together, they grinned together, and were chunky and vital." (Golding 19).

Piggy is more of an experimental and up-for-anything type of boy. Piggy is always making sure he will have control over whether or not the outcome of the situation is chaos or order.
