My Bright Place is a project that is running alongside the Bright Places tour. aims to connect people living with multiple sclerosis, MS, and build strong relationships locally and more widely through digital platforms, supported by Shift.ms, by expressing and sharing the varying experiences of living with this unpredictable condition in a creative way. This section tells you a little bit more about what we've done already and other opportunities to get involved

We are thrilled to be hosting another two Creative Days after Christmas - where you can join us to be creative together. Led by Jo Gleave - theatre director and facilitator - and with Rae Mainwaring or Tom Wells - both writers, both living with MS - we will playing around with stories: remembering stories, making stories, telling stories etc.

There will be an open and welcoming vibe but there’s no need to share more than you want to. We’d love you to come to chat, maybe write a bit and play around with visualising and expressing some of the fun day-to-day things that cheer us up.

These are online sessions - please do book your free place and you'll be sent a Zoom link to join! There will be a Live Captioner captioning the sessions and providing a live and post-event transcript.

As part of the project last year a steering group was formed through our partnership with Shift MS. They helped to guide and shape the project as it grew and influenced decisions about how the workshops would best reach the community they are intended for and how to make the spaces as accessible as possible. They were also a really nice way of connecting with others online and having a good old chat!

Creative writing prompt Freewriting

You get a Prompt and then just write. And keep writing. Write any thoughts you have connected to that prompt and see where it takes you. Whatever comes into your head. It doesn’t have to make sense, it doesn’t have to be in sentences, and it doesn’t matter if it ends up having nothing to do with the word you were given to begin with. The important thing’s to keep going. You know, like life.

If you don’t know what to write, write about how you don’t know what to write and see what comes next. Time yourself doing it for 5-10minutes.
