a)	Identify the production companies of the magazines you analysed –Are they independent companies or large, mainstream corporations? Why did these companies produce them and not other companies?

One of the magazines I analysed was Mixmag. The production company of this magazine is Development Hell. This is a large company. Mixmag is a British magazine, the theme is dance music Development Hell is also distributing, The Word, magazine. This is for an older audience range. They release their magazines monthly and they roughly sell 21250 magazines a year.

Another magazine I analyzed was Elektro. The production company of this magazine is Townsquare. This is quite a large company. Town square is the 3rd largest owner of radio stations in the US, with 312 brands so they are a very big company.

Bauer: Bauer is a worldwide media empire, which has over 300 magazines in 15 countries as well as online radio stations and TV channels.

IPC: This is magazine and digital publisher, which was founded in 1958. They sell over 350 million copies per year. They have published loads of magazine like look and Pick Me Up.

I think that Development Hell would publish my media product because They have distributed other dance magazines like mixmag.

The dance music magazines I analysed have nearly all the same conventions to my magazine and the content is similar.

I would say my magazines purpose would be for entertainment and education because a lot of my magazine has educational content, such as An interview with Martin Garrix. My magazine would also be entertaining because my audience felt that all magazines should be entertaining

Because dance music is, can be completely different to other music and if a company specialises in a certain type of music magazine, which is not dance or anything, associated with dance, then they would not be interested in my magazine.

My magazine would be buy able on the Dance monthly website; this will also be where you can pay for a monthly subscription. It will also be buyable in mainstream food shops where young people shop, like Tesco’s, Co-op and Lidl. These shops are not too expensive, which is why you expect to see young mainstream people shopping at them.

VI.	Why would it be unlikely that certain institutions would not distribute it? And why might certain methods of distribution not be favourable?

I would not allow my magazines to be buyable in high class, expensive food shops like M&S and Waitrose because these shops would not have many young people in because it is more of an elderly shop. In addition, mainstreams would shop in these shops because they are expensive.
