Librarians were the key holders of these books.
As time passed on the libraries were still helping those people find and locate information, by teaching students and adults how the library was organized thanks to John Dewey.
Though librarians were also getting frustrated with little students understood the research process and over time setup standards/guidlines to teach students about doing research whether it was choosing a topic and devour all the books one could, or being interested in a topic and gaining as much information as possible and running from there.
Librarians also had to adapt as technology was growing from books, to micropheash, CDs, to online forms of informaition.
As technology increased and it turned out practically anyone could write about a topic, librarians wanted to make sure students and adults became critical thinkers about the sources they used and so created standards for knowing reputable sites or knowing how to be critical about things they read.

I should be asking them to collaberate when doing research assignments. Letting the librarian know what I am doing in the classroom when teaching a lesson, and either they can use their precious time to exten the students learning or give me tips as to how I can make research either easier for the students, or the best ways to get the students interested in a topic that may be challenging fort them.
