Assalamualaikum and hi everyone !

Before we begin, let me introduce myself.

My name is Afwa Binti Mohd Dziyaulhak (279518), and most people simply call me Afwa, yes, because my name is already short enough!

I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur. I attended SK Wangsa Maju for my primary school and later continued my secondary education at SMKA Kuala Lumpur, so basically KL has always been home for me.

I come from a big family with eight siblings, and I am the eldest. Being the first child was not always easy. There were many challenges and responsibilities that I had to carry from a young age. However, through every hardship, I found lessons, strength, and even happiness. Those experiences shaped me into who I am today.

Currently, in CFS Kuantan, I am striving to become a better version of myself, someone who can make my parents proud and a role model that my siblings can look up to, in syaa Allah 🤍

Week 1

In this session, we discussed the topic of adab in seeking knowledge and the Qur’an as the book of guidance.

Islam greatly emphasizes proper manners in seeking knowledge, whether towards teachers or friends. We must also cultivate the intention of learning for the sake of Allah and avoid sins, because knowledge is light, and light will not enter the heart of a sinner.

In this worldly life, we should balance between the dunya and the hereafter. We must never abandon our worldly responsibilities just for the sake of chasing the hereafter. Lastly, as human beings, let us make the Qur’an our guidance in every step we take.

Week 2

As we know, the pillars of Islam consist of the testimony of faith (shahadah), performing the five daily prayers, giving zakat, fasting, and performing the pilgrimage (hajj) for those who are able.

As someone born into Islam, we should be grateful for being nurtured to worship Allah. We are also taught to perform prayer no matter the circumstances. For me, the pillars of Islam are one of the ways to show gratitude to Allah as His servant. Without practicing these acts of worship, it is as if we are being arrogant in living on this earth.

However, Allah has also given ease to every Muslim in carrying out acts of worship. For example, Allah eases His servants in performing prayer while traveling by shortening the number of raka‘at. This proves that Islam is a religion that is very flexible and not burdensome 🤍

Week 3

In this meeting, we were introduced to the Hadith of Jibril, which explains about faith (iman), Islam, and ihsan.

Our focus today was on the pillars of faith in Allah, the Angels, and the Scriptures. Believing in Allah means affirming His oneness (tawhid). We can strengthen our faith by appreciating acts of worship and reflecting on the creations of Allah. Belief in the Angels teaches us that they are noble beings in the sight of Allah. What is remarkable is that they continuously worship Allah without weariness and without desires. Finally, belief in the Scriptures teaches us to believe in all the revealed books before the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, while holding firmly to the Qur’an al-Karim.

All of this proves the power of Allah in perfecting His creations. This is evidenced by the Qur’an, whose eloquence and language are so supreme that no one can ever produce a book like it.

Week 4

In this meeting, we emphasized the concept of belief in the Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree (qada’ and qadar).

Allah SWT sent Messengers to all of mankind to call people to worship Him. As the followers of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, we should always remember him by sending blessings (salawat) upon him and practicing his sunnah.

In addition, we must believe in the existence of the Hereafter. On that day, everything will be accounted for, and as human beings we must always perform righteous deeds and avoid Allah’s prohibitions.

Believing in qada’ and qadar teaches us to always attribute everything that happens back to Allah. Believe that everything that occurs surely has wisdom behind it 🤍

Week 5

This week, we continued with the Hadith of Jibril and focused on the topic of Ihsan.

Ihsan means worshipping as though you see Allah, and if you cannot, then know that Allah is surely watching you. By practicing ihsan in our daily lives, we will be more guarded from committing sins out of fear and consciousness of Allah.

The quality of ihsan also leads us towards doing good to fellow human beings. As stated in the Qur’an, we should be kind to our parents, relatives, orphans, and the needy.

This clearly proves that Islam is a religion that greatly emphasizes both the relationship with Allah and the relationship among human beings 💞

Based on what I have learned throughout our usrah sessions, I found that Islam teaches many comprehensive concepts of life. By practising the pillars of Iman, Islam, and Ihsan, we will truly feel the sweetness of worship and faith. We should internalize every principle taught in Islam so that our lives will become more peaceful and meaningful 🤍

Throughout this usrah, I have gained many new insights and been reminded of what I have previously learned. However, I think it would be more engaging if the usrah were conducted using two-way communication. In addition, I hope that the naqibah will not only share knowledge based on the slides and syllabus, but also broaden the discussion topics. Other than that, I am very satisfied 🤍

Through this first usrah, I learned to put the right intention in doing something. Islam also emphasizes wisdom in every act of worship. Through wisdom, one individual can understand the Shariah of the worship.

Everything we do must be for the sake of Allah, even the smallest things. As an usrah assistance, I need to correct my intention before conveying something.

In this meeting, I understood why a certain act of worship is obligatory. Islam is very comprehensive in all aspects of human life. Deep appreciation can also give birth to individual Muslims, Muslim families, Islamic communities, Islamic countries and subsequently the Islamic world. It all starts from the role of the individual himself.

Today, I learned how to prepare for prayer with devotion. I learned about the pillars of prayer, how to pray in congregation and qasar, and the value of an act of worship if done in a state of devotion. Today's topic also taught me to better maintain the purity of an act of worship. It trained me to put into practice what I had learned.

hi, today's topic is virtues found in prayer with devotion. Through prayer with devotion, we will gain various values in life. Among them are obedience, striving, self-reflection, modesty and humility.

This week's usrah taught me about the wisdom of fasting. The greatest wisdom is to train someone to be pious. Allah SWT made this fasting a special worship for him because whoever fasts, other people cannot see his worship compared to other worships such as prayer, zakat and hajj. Fasting also teaches us to be patient in performing worship. Apart from that, we can also cultivate the nature of mercy and understand the situation of those who are struggling out there.

Today I learned about the wisdom of zakat worship. Zakat is not actually something that reduces wealth, on the contrary, zakat is a factor in increasing blessings. Zakat is also an obligation arranged by Allah, different from taxes or charity. Zakat has been determined by Allah in terms of its rate, time, and target recipients. Zakat teaches us not to be materialistic and to cultivate the value of ukhuwah within ourselves without creating a gap between the rich and the poor

The last topic is the wisdom of performing the Hajj pilgrimage. Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. Logically, the Sharia law of Hajj is an act of worship that transcends the human mind. For example, why does a person need to circle the Kaaba 7 times, isn't it just a box? On that basis, the Hajj pilgrimage is an act of worship that produces piety in a servant.

Being an usrah assistant is something I will remember forever. Taking on the responsibility of conveying the knowledge of Allah is not that easy. Every time before the usrah begins, I have to cleanse my intention and heart so that what is conveyed is appropriate for who is conveying it. The topics given also make me more enthusiastic to improve my daily practices.

I hope that the places to conduct usrah are not set at places that are very far from our mahallah. It is also better to prepare slides for each topic in advance so that we can be prepared with the given topic besides just listening to the information from the asatizah.
