         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Stamp Act</strong> said the colonists had to pay a tax on all sorts of printed materials such as newspapers, magazines and legal documents. It was called the Stamp Act because the colonies were supposed to buy paper from Britain that had an official stamp on it that showed they had paid the tax.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The <strong>Sugar Act</strong> <strong>of 1764</strong> was a tax on sugar, wine, indigo (a type of color dye) and molasses from any country other than Great Britain. This made sugar from other places cost more. Colonists could no longer afford to buy these goods from other countries.</div>]]></description>
