My inspiration was some cactus photos i have around my home. My house is very desert boho themed. I added the chef's knife last minute because I struggled with finding a possession that meant something to me. I included the knife because i love cooking, i love making good food for my family so it just clicked. My strengths i think are the background colors and how they give the piece life. I struggled with editing-knowing when to walk away. I found myself painting in a circle and was constantly correcting myself. I do want to refine the knife more and the candlesticks. I am not an artist in any way so I struggled with the shapes but overall I'm proud of it.

For possession I used my Chimmy headband I wore at a BTS concert, for plant I picked out these purple flowers because purple is complementary to yellow, and for pretend I decided to add blood because it was just a random thought and I thought it would look cool. I think the most challenging was trying to get the right shades of color.

My inspiration for this Plant, Possession, and Pretend project was my mom and her love for plants/gardening. I chose to portray the "plant" and "possession" themes by painting my mom's heart belonging to her plants. I decided to incorporate the "pretend" theme by being a little more stylized with the plants I chose. They're based off different succulents but I took some creative liberties so they might not look exactly like their real-life counterparts. I think my strength of my painting is its simplicity and the vibrant colors I was able to build. On the other hand, I'd say my biggest challenge was my fear of messing up. I think I could've gone for a more complex background if I could've let go of that fear.

My inspiration for this painting are 2 out 5 plants I have in my home. I chose these two specifically because they were gifted to me by my mother. She has so many plants, her house looks like a jungle. It’s quite beautiful. The larger plant in the painting is called “bird of paradise” it’s a tropical plant who’s leafs grow up to 2ft on average. The smaller plant is a “Haworthia Fasciata”, it’s more of a desert plant, loves the heat.

The main focus of my painting was my favorite plant; this plant is one of my favorites because of how simple and vibrant it is. I decided I wanted to add a snake and painted it red to complement the plant. I also added a heart, and altogether it symbolizes love and devotion. My strength in my artwork would be the leaves; the different greens work well together. The most challenging part was the snake. I feel I could have added more detail to him to make him stand out.

This is a still life of my newest succulent plant, stuffed frog, and a imaginary acorn. The acorn was the first imaginary thing I thought of and went with it! The stuffed frog is my most favorite item in the world and since I was using green for most of it, it was a perfect fit. The green was the easiest to use but the umber turned out better in the end.

My artwork was inspired by my business. I also wanted to challenge myself a little to do a more detailed piece. This is an image of a strawberry order i did for my friend. One of the most challenging parts of this artwork was the white cupcake liners i had to paint. I want to improve on the background because it could have more texture to it. The strongest part of my painting would be the strawberries itself i am really happy with how they turned out.

Combining contemporary art subjects (the statue head and the ivy plant) with the more unique elements of the plastic dinosaurs is a fun expression of my interests and personality.

"Plant" in this aspect is the literal ivy growing from the head of the statue. It feels like a burst of life from the rigid, yet aesthetically pleasing carvings of the stone. "Possession" is the possession of emotion, one that I feel that I can relate to when I feel that I am overwhelmed with the desire to create. "Pretend" is captured by the plastic dinosaurs. I can 'pretend' maturity through art, but on the inside, I feel youthful and silly. I like to believe that the ability to connect with my inner child feeds my ability to create.

The strongest aspect in my painting appears to be my ability to utilize silhouettes to communicate an idea. You know what you are looking at. I am pleased with my use of shadows to imply form. Admittedly, I felt less confident in my ability to render the leaves of the ivy with such confidence. I would like to improve upon the way I apply paint. I feel that it is messy in some respects and doesn't need to be.

All in all, I am quite pleased with the end result. I feel as if I executed everything I set out to and I come away from this project with a strong sense of accomplishment. Thanks for reading!

One of the main inspirations for this painting is that I am moving. The box in the center of the painting represents leaving space for new things and experiences. I feel like a strength of my painting is my use of the colors' compliments to create contrast. This is most apparent with the red balls and the leaves in the back. Something I found challenging was mixing the paints directly on the canvas. I would like to continue to improve how well I refine paintings.

My focus was "luck in life." While the clovers and ladybugs are both typical signs of luck, I also chose to focus on my luck in having a strong family. Our wedding ring (left side) is a very strong symbol of this for me. I felt that my strengths in shading grew throughout this assignment. At first, it was confusing to tell where the highlights needed to be, but I remained diligent and focused on it. I really do like the contrast that the ladybug added here.

My project was a honestly a mystery to me. I actually prefer it to be that way because then I'm able to create multiple stories to go with it. My plant of choice, I honestly have no clue of the name but I always see this plant and it has such beautiful and detailed leaves. I wish I knew the name because I would definitely have them in my home. My pretend in this painting is the setting and or background. I wanted my painting to be in this made up dimension where the moon is supersized and expresses the bright colors of the universe with funky patterns. Finally, my possession would be the Cocoa Butter. I will be honest, I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be. I kept messing up but I improvised and added the lotion. Funny thing is the lotion bottle is actually tall and rectangular, not short and oblong. I am and will always say I'm probably a better abstract painter, so this was very much out of my comfort zone, but I had fun regardless.
