Love "teach to the individual"

I really like how you teach to the individual by having activities that we do on our own but at the same time. It is really helpful to be "walked through" things in this way because I often have a hard time focusing. I also often struggle to stay present in classes, both online and in person, that are lecture-based and not interactive. Even group discussions can be alienating sometimes because I don't know how to fit my voice in without cutting people off (in general not just this class). So I appreciate the "teach the individual" approach very much.

Last week was kind of a relief because I do get Zoom fatigue and it was nice to have a break. Tonight I feel that I could go either way, either staying on and working together or going off on my own. I did notice that it took me longer to accomplish the tasks from last week without doing more of them together.

I feel a bit of guilt for not doing more for this class as I have the sense that I should be doing more for a grad-level class. But I'm also relieved that there is not more work than there is, because I have a lot of other work to do academically and otherwise. It is nice that this class is very straightforward and with a fair amount of hand-holding. That is refreshing after struggling a lot the past eight months or so with not having the mentorship I would like in another class and having a professor seemingly get mad at me for asking clarifying questions.

I really like that you gave us the option last week to work on our own after you went over the agenda for the module and expectations. Then you gave us the option to stick around or leave. I like this because during the week I don't have time to work on assignments as much or focus on the content due to the overload of work and school. I'm able to focus more during the weekends or when I have some spare time during the week.

Overall I love how well organized this class is and how the assignments are well paced out. I enjoying learning about how to incorporate technology. I really enjoying this class and how flexible it is.

I like how nice and sincere you are about our learning! You always have good, clear ideas, and the weekly agendas always help me know what to expect. The homework amount is also fair, I don't ever feel overwhelmed by it. I also really appreciate how you try your best to have us finish by 7pm each time, I think that's a solid amount of time for us to go over most material and discuss our assignments! One thing that I would like to see more of is breakout rooms or group discussions like these, since those are good opportunities to get to know our classmates and not feel as isolated this semester.

I absolutely love the organization of this course. I wish every class had an agenda set up each time we met. I enjoy that sometimes the class meets longer and sometimes it doesn’t. After working all day, like I am sure most of us do, it is a bit of a relief when sometimes the class does not meet for very long on zoom. However, I enjoy the socialization and being able to talk to others. I love that this course is so interactive and there is not just a lecture presentation to follow along with. I enjoy when we talk and do breakout rooms, I also enjoy the every so often turning off our video and mic to do something separate. Overall, I love the set-up of this class. I am so okay with meeting until 7-7:30pm, and other times not as long.

My school requires all communication to parents be through either Aeries or Google Classroom. I think a website would be too much for parents to keep track of on top of that. I know I wouldn’t use a website in real life. I’m wondering if there is a different alternative for creating a website for students? Maybe creating a teaching portfolio website instead – like for job hunting or keeping our portfolio of work and teaching goals/philosophy somewhere? Just a thought …

I'm not very tech-savvy, so it's nice to go at a pace where I don't feel overwhelmed. I look forward to coming to this class. I appreciate that you are respectful of our time and use minutes wisely with hands-on activities and explanations of work to come. I have one other course that I'm taking right now that requires almost 4 hours of straight Zoom time and I find myself tuning out. I love, love, love the book we are reading and am excited to try out some of the ideas in my own classroom.
