         <title>Hot melting Adhesive</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Glue Gun Sticks,<br><br>A glue gun stick is a type of solid adhesive that's used for a various temperature of glue guns. Hot glue sticks are made by combining polymers and additives. The molten mixture is then shaped, cooled, and cut to size.<br><br>There are many types of glue gun sticks which requires different temperatures to melt. Although most of them can be melted using low temperature due the materials used through the process of their making.<br><br>Low Strength glue sticks- low glue guns must be used with low temperatures glue sticks, which are specifically formulated for melting at lower temperature making them fabric safe. These sticks range in ranking from 0-20 and they are not meant for any heavy-duty use. They can easily be broken if too much pressure is applied and they don’t usually work well with high heat. These types of glue sticks would be good for things such as crafts, scrapbooking, and lightweight paper projects.&nbsp;<br><br>Medium strength Glue sticks-&nbsp;These sticks range in ranking from 20-50 and they are good for most lighter-duty household repair or craft projects where you need a little bit more oomph than the lower strength ones can give. These types of adhesives work well with high heat but it’s not ideal to use them on surfaces that get exposed to extreme conditions often such as outdoor signs or anything used in an area near a fireplace or ovens.<br><br>High strength glue sticks- This is the highest level of adhesive power that hot glue sticks come with and they rank anywhere from 50 up to 90+. The higher number means stronger hold so if you have something tough like wood then go ahead and pick up one that’s in this range. They work well with high heat and won’t melt if exposed to them for too long.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>super glue are a part of the cyanoacrylate family. A strong, and fast bonding adhesive. Cyanoacrylate can bond with many substances, including human skin and tissues, natural fibres, cotton, wool, and leather. Making them the perfect type of adhesive for our everyday uses. I have seen many people use superglue to glue their new nails on, some have even went as far to use it to bong their skin together after suffering a minor cut.<br><br>Advantages</div><ul><li><strong>Ease of use.</strong> Unlike two-part epoxies, there is no complicated mixing required. Just squirt a small amount of the glue onto the surface you want to bond with another.</li><li><strong>Strength.</strong> Its tensile strength is comparable to that of epoxies and polyurethane products.</li><li><strong>Versatility.</strong> Super glues are compatible with most materials, both porous and non-porous.</li><li><strong>Short work time.</strong> In general, no clamping is required with Super Glue. Just hold the two objects you are joining in place for a few minutes and they will be set.</li></ul><div><br>Disadvantages</div><ul><li><strong>Expense.</strong> Cyanoacrylate is substantially more expensive compared to other glues. It isn’t prohibitive for small repairs, but it does mean that you will want to opt for an alternative like wood glue rather than Super Glue if you are framing an entire timber house.</li><li><strong>Unable to fill gaps.</strong> For cyanoacrylate to be its most effective, you’ll want to spread it in a thin layer to bond two surfaces that fit tightly together. If the gap between the surfaces is irregular, an epoxy or other adhesive that also works as a filler is a better option.</li><li><strong>Short work time. </strong>Yes, short work time can be an advantage but it can also be a disadvantage. You won’t have much of a window to get your object located exactly where you want it before cyanoacrylate begins to harden.</li><li><strong>Low ductility. </strong>Although it forms very strong bonds, cyanoacrylate is not very durable or tough—that is, it risks shattering if hit with a fast impact. Think about wood and glass. Wood may bend over time under consistent, heavy compression, but if you hit it with a sledge hammer, it won’t shatter. Glass, on the other hand, will not bend under compression, but it may shatter at impact. Like glass, cyanoacrylate adhesives are strong under compression, but they aren’t tough compared to other adhesives. They’re brittle, and may shatter. &nbsp;</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pva glue is probably the weakest glue manufactures compared to other glue on this topic. The adhesive on it is really low but that is probably due it mixture with water.&nbsp;<br>It's ideal for sticking together cardboard, paper, carpets, fabric and other porous materials - and you'll also find specialist PVA wood glue that helps bond chipboard, hardwood, plywood and other wooden materials with ease.<br><br><strong>Advantages</strong></div><div>The main advantages to using PVA glue are that it is water-based, inexpensive, and works well on porous surfaces like wood, yet can also be used for fragile items like ceramic vases.&nbsp;</div><div>PVA glue is also non-toxic, so it does not have any strong odours, so white PVA glue is widely used in schools. Most types of PVA glue are also easy to clean up since they are water-based, no strong chemicals are needed.&nbsp;</div><div>PVA wood glue dries hard so you can easily sand and paint it for any project. Most PVA glues also won’t yellow or crack over time. <br><br><strong>Disadvantages &nbsp;</strong></div><div>The disadvantages of using PVA glue are that you cannot use it outside because it doesn’t hold up in extreme weather conditions. However, some types are slightly water-resistant.&nbsp;</div><div>Drying time can take some time. Some items will need to be clamped or weighed down for at least 30 minutes, while others will need a curing time of up to 24 hours.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This topic was inspired by something that happened to me as a kid. As a kid I used to love climbing trees, most specifically, the mango trees. Once while climbing, I came across a branch that was exposed, and it had this sap leaking from it. I unknowingly grabbed onto it on my way down. Not knowing what it was, I wiped it off my shirt. As the day went by, the sap started bonding with my palm, making it stickier. When I noticed it again, I tried wiping it off with a paper towel, this the paper towel got stuck on my palm.&nbsp;Using this know memory, I want to research more into the world of adhesive. How does it work? What different types of adhesive are there? The difference between natural and manufactures&nbsp;adhesive? What other materials that can be used as adhesive? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Why is honey sticky?&nbsp;<br>Honey is sticky because of hydrogen bonding and viscosity. Hydrogen bonding is when hydrogen molecules in honey are attracted to other molecules, like oxygen on your skin. Viscosity is how thick and slow a liquid is. Honey has a high viscosity because it has a lot of sugar molecules that slow down the water molecules.&nbsp;<br><br>I found that if one is trying to use honey to bond things, it would be better to use frozen honey or to put the things covered in honey into the freezer. This process will help freeze the molecules within the honey, making it much more stickier and stronger. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due it bonding characteristics, honey can be used to bond certain things together. For this experiment I chose to work with paper and fabric.&nbsp;<br><br>1. Paper:&nbsp;Using the honey, it was easy to bong the papers together. firstly I cover the paper in honey, then I placed the other paper on top to bond both of them. I then left them on my window so the honey can cool down and bond with each paper.<br><br>2. While paper were easy to bond, the fabric in the other hand absorbed the honey. Although the fabric is still sticky, it can't bond with other materials. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chewing gum is mainly made of a synthetic rubber, a type of polymer similar to plastic.&nbsp;<br><br>Chewing gum can be used as glue, however It can't stay sticky forever. Unlike liquid glue, chewing gum can have dirt settling down on it, reducing it's sticky properties. Also with the application of oil, the chewing gum will come sliding down.&nbsp;<br>The good thing about chewing gum is that when it wet, it quickly bonds with the surface that it's sitting on. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While the slime worked well on both paper and the fabric, I found that it does not work quite as well on the Styrofoam. Due it plastic like texture, the slime sits on top of the Styrofoam instead of bonding properly.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Trying to recreate the same experiment that i used to melt the chewing gum on chew-it was not as successful that i had hoped at first. However with time, the materials began to melt due to the heat and bond with each other because their stickiness.&nbsp;<br>I found out that with chew-it, it's better to leave in siting outside on the heat or put into the microwave to speed up the melting process. However I would only to put into the microwave if you're using this bond ceramics or plastic. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During first year, we had a collab project on Anthropocene and I was trying to create a tree using materials that I can find around my home. While trying to add textures onto the tree, I came across this technique that could used to glue things together using acrylic paint. I believe this is possible because the ingredients withing the acrylic paint that makes it possible to bind certain substance together.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before you start painting, you will need a plastic bottle or cup, cup water, kitchen towel, one paint brush and any colour paint of your choice. the reason why it's better to use kitchen towel instead toilet instead is because kitchen towel doesn't break easily when it comes to contact with water and that's very important because you need that for the whole process to work.&nbsp;</div><ul><li>first, gently place the kitchen towel on the surface of your chosen object.</li><li>using your brush, paint over the kitchen towel with water to bind the kitchen towel onto your object. it important to understand that this is the most important step of the whole process. Make sure that the patterns that comes out are the ones you are looking before painting over them.&nbsp;</li><li>make sure that the kitchen towel is still wet and sticking on the object before painting over it. You want to make sure that the paint and the kitchen towel to dry at the same time to increase the chance of them sticking to your object.</li></ul>]]></description>
