Nicholas and his family were constantly moving to try and avoid hate coming from the Russian people. He was held in a few different palaces, one including the Yekaterinburg palace. The officials at this palace feared that the Czar might be rescued, so after a secret meeting they decided to execute him and his family. After Nicholas was abdicated a new government was put in place. This is important to the Russian revolution because it marked the start of a new government and change throughout the country.

The Abolishment of the Dumas consisted of the large party of Dumas and Nicholas in 1906. In this event the Dumas wanted a constitutional monarchy that would leave Nicholas the Czar but reduce his power which was not ok. If Nicholas´s power was reduced the Duma would gain it. Nicholas did not want to lose any of his power so as soon as he had the chance he dissolved the Dumas. This angered the russian people and decreased their trust with the Czar even more and this was a breaking point which started the Russian Revolution.

In July 1914 a Serbian nationalist killed the Archduke to the Austrian throne. Because of this, Austria declared war on Serbia. Needing help, Serbia looked to Russia. Nicholas agreed to help them in war, this marks the start of WWI. Russian troops were mobilized and by 1915 Nicholas had taken control of the army. The Russian troops were not as strong as the other countries and the war went badly for Russia with many casualties. Back at home, the citizens were becoming more and more angered with the deaths of their sons and fathers. Over 15 million men were drafted into the army and people were in need of resources. This made the people lose trust and liking towards the Czar. This event started leading to the downfall of the government

Revolution of 1905 - Bloody Sunday

On January 9, 1905 the poor townspeople held a petition to help with their condition. They worked in factories for long periods of time while in horrible conditions, and for minimal pay. When they presented their petition to the winter palace the guards were ordered to open fire and harmed nearly 500 people. This became known as Bloody Sunday. This is significant because the creation of the Duma came from this event. It also starts a snowball effect with the people's trust and feelings toward Nicholas.

Russo - Japanese War

Following the Russian rejection of a Japanese plan for spheres of influence in 1904, Japan launched a surprise naval attack at Port Arthur(Russian naval base in China). This event started the Russo-Japanese War. The war lasted throughout 1905 as the Japanese won a series of decisive victories. Three major Russian defeats convinced Russia that resisting Japan's East Asia designs was hopeless. The outcome of the Russian losses concluded that Russia's military was weak. This event is probably one of the least significant due to the time before the revolutions. But it did show that change was needed, unfortunately, Nicholas didn't get the hint.
