This is a new type of rank the North Koreans to help fight in the war against the South Korea and the U.S. South Korea was for democracy and North Korea was for communism and the U.S. didn't wanted communism to spread. So the U.S. stepped in and aid South Korea in the war against North Korea. This picture symbolizes that the war in Korea was a hard fought war and is even still being fought to this day, but thankfully less casualties. But this was the horrible reality of the Korean war back in the 1950s. We need to find a way to finally end this long cold war before the tention breaks and missles are launched and millions and millions lose their lives.

In this picture, it shows Lucy and Ricky from the popular 50s show I Love Lucy. This show challenged the social norms of the 1950s. Ricky was Cuban American and Lucy was white. At that time it was unusual for interracial marriages to happen. Lucy also challenged social norms of what it was to be a woman in the 50s. This is a powerful picture because it shows how social norms were being challenged.

This picture is of white students looking at the Little Rock 9 walking into a white school. At that time, most schools in the south were segregated so it was unusual for African-Americans to go to white schools. Nine kids from Little Rock, Arkansas broke the social norms by walking in to a school that was all-white. This is impactful because it shows that schools should be integrated and everyone should have equal education.

This picture was taken as Martin Luther King Jr was he was speaking his famous speech, "I Have A Dream," speech. He wanted his young daughters to live in a nation where they wouldn't be discriminated by their skin color or race. This picture made me realize that all everyone should have the same natural rights regardless of skin color or gender. He wanted to change the norm for the better so people wouldn't have to be scared to do something.

The U.S. didn't want the South to fall to communism because eventually neighboring countries will also fall to communism. So the U.S. got involved and started taking back some of the land the South had lost and went back to the halfway point of Korea. This pictured showed that the U.S. helping the South by providing them with more advanced weapons that really turned the tide of the war.
