Throughout all of the projects, communicating with my team was the biggest piece to being successful. We had to bounce ideas off each other and talk about them to come up with the best possible solutions. I have learned from my peers' different ways of thinking which has opened my mind and made me more creative.

Risk Taking

By taking risks in projects, I have seen that it causes a different way to think, rather than playing it safe. In the real world, problems that have not been solved yet need to have risks taken in order to solve them because people have tried playing it safe and it hasn't worked. Taking risks either can solve the problem or improve it or help you learn something about what does or doesn't work.

Learning From Peers

I have learned from peers to think more outside of the box. For instance, for one of the projects when we needing to come up with a sustainability issue and most people think of plastic, fast fashion, etc. One group did laundry detergent, and I was able to learn how some are unsustainable and I did not realize that before and wouldn't think to fix that. It opened my eyes to realizing how there is a lot more unsustainable objects in my everyday life I did not think of before. Additionally, for another project we had to come up with another issue, my group did coral reef bleaching. Together we were all able to come up with a sustainable sunscreen and ways to wash off sunscreen before going into the ocean so it cannot cause harm. Just by discussing ideas and hearing other opinions I was able to add on and come up with my own ideas and we all helped each other come up with more creative ways of thinking.

Thinker Toys

The thinker toys helped me think outside the box by giving examples and pointing out different ways to come up with ideas. For example, circle of opportunity. In circle of opportunity, we started with one word and came up with other words sole based on that one word. Then, more words based on those words, etc. With a big jumble of words, we pointed out common themes, like, food, education, and jobs. Then, using those themes we tried to come up with solutions to our original problem, educating children at a younger age about being sustainable, etc. This thinker toy helped me think of solutions I probably wouldn't on my own. I will definitely use this strategy going forward in my life as a technique for brainstorming because it really helped, and I liked the outcome.

Another thinker toy that stuck out to me was false faces where we would come up with assumptions about something, in our case Amazon, and then reverse those assumptions and think about what would happen if those reversals were true. I really liked this because it causes me to think in the opposite way then I usually do. I will also be using this in my life because it is a unique, different way of thinking.
