I'm looking for the unaggregated dataset for a given census tract in a given year. Can you guys help me find it?

Check libguides, MDL website or The BRIDGE website (for company/industry data) as starting points.
These requests can go directly to MDL - https://mdl.library.utoronto.ca/research/help. This form is monitored by several MDL students and librarians (DSU librarians also have access to questions sent to this form and may be asked to respond as appropriate by MDL staff). Add "UTSC" in the description of the support request in order to assist with tracking.
If there is no response, or response is unsatisfactory, these requests can go to DSU librarians for a consultation meeting.

Can somebody help me with Nvivo? I need somebody to write code or an application. I need somebody to read my code. I would like a web presence developed for some reason. I would like somebody to help me with project and workflow planning.

"It depends" - the answer is always contextual. This will always require a consultation appointment.
Good to note that we typically provide advice but not labour for these requests unless it matches a librarian research interest or the goals of the library (for example, by extending a partnership with a department or resulting in an open data set).

Rights Management

Am I allowed to show my class this movie? Am I allowed to copy this percentage of a book over? How should I license my work with a publisher?

Digital Scholarship Research Collaboration

I'm interested in partnering with somebody at the library to make an app, digitize a collection, create a visualization or database. Can you direct me?

Consultations with a DSU librarian and involved faculty are available.
Projects that implicate DSU USWA staff or technical infrastructure must go through the Office of the Chief librarian, and usually require that the project is developed. The DSU librarian will aid in this process. The template is available for review.
Note: If the request is clearly Makerspace related, then user services should be included in consult meetings (start with Lola Rudin).
Projects that fall under a librarian's personal research work are up to them.

Grant development/Data & preservation plans

I have a grant and I need to comply with the requirements of that grant. I need somewhere to put my data or publications! consultation on data security and management.

Referral question

I want to have a local Tableau page. Can I also have an event website? Can I get a software license for ESRI/NVivo? Where can I use Adobe Creative Suite?

When unsure, questions are referred to liaisons. When liaisons are unsure, there is consultation with DSU Librarians. Clients can be triaged to other groups such as Scinet, IITS, or Internet Archives.
When we triage, we stay with the interaction for as long as possible to confirm user satisfaction.

Buying Data or other Specialty DS resources

I need to acquire a dataset or digital collection? Can you guys buy it for me?

This request would go to DSU for information finding and feasibility before a request goes to Collection.
Current holdings are double-checked before acquisition of something new.

Requests must be tracked in statistics for DDS committee review and reporting. LIAISON LIBRARIANS MUST BE INCLUDED IN COMM WITH FACULTY. Remember to ask as you triage through a workflow: "Are you going to put this in the form, or do you want me to put this into the form?"

This request would go to any Librarian in the Digital Scholarship Unit or can be posted to the DDS channel.
