DeAnne Taggart: My favorite teacher was Dr. Michael Gordon who I met my freshman year at IU. I was from a very rural, white K-12 school district and this was the first teacher I had who was African-American. He told us we have the hardest degree on campus and he didn't want to hear any of us complain about it because we all signed up for it! He had high expectations of all of his students and he was a fantastic storyteller.
