My Community: Youth Development Professional (Mandatory Reporters)

My community consists of Youth Development Professionals that I work alongside at a Boys & Girls Club. We are mandatory reporters as well which is a key factor to my community. As a community we aim to put youth first through caring deeply and engaging fully, honoring our commitments and empowering them.

Local history:

BGC of Southwest Washington was added in 1999 and opened the first site a year later (in 2000) on Hazel Dell Elementary grounds (My BGC).

Cultural

As an organization we believe that all kids and teens should have access to experiences and opportunities that can change their lives "regardless of their socio-economic status, color of their skin or other factors that contribute to inequity or prejudice in the U.S. today" (BGCA).

Environmental

"The Ultimate Journey" is the main environmental educational program that the organization has to get youth engage with STEM related subjects as well as "... environmental stewardship, and meet the need of youth from urban, rural, native, and military settings" (BCGA).
