Helen Fagin was a young, strong Jewish woman. She was born in Radomsko, Poland in the early year of 1922. She had two sisters, Wanda and Terry. Helen loved to read and teach her sisters! In 1939, Helen came back from vacation with her family only to see that the Nazis had invaded the place they called home. Terrified, she still took care of her younger and older sister!

While in the ghetto the Nazis put the Jews in, she still taught her sisters and many other children the importance of education, and taught them to read and write! Helen did this knowing she could be arrested, or even worse... killed. She truly was an amazing educator and a great sister! Helen took a stand for the children's education and I truly admire her for that, she could've been hurt!

Helen was eventually put into jail and was persecuted for five and a half years! Did she give up, though? No! Of course not. For she is Helen Fagin. Finally, Helen immigrated to the United States where she was free to live her life and teach about Judaism. But... she had to go without her sisters. Her sisters sadly didn't make it. Although she was sad, she decided to keep her head held high! She graduated high school and then graduated college. Finally, she became a teacher at Miami University to teach about Judaism.
