Did she give up, though? No! Of course not. For she is Helen Fagin. Finally, Helen immigrated to the United States where she was free to live her life and teach about Judaism. But... she had to go without her sisters. Her sisters sadly didn't make it. Although she was sad, she decided to keep her head held high! She graduated high school and then graduated college. Persecuted -  subject (someone) to hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of their race or political or religious beliefs.
Resistor - a person who refuses to do something, or stands up for the thing they refuse to do.
