I live in Manchester and I joined the Celta team in Sheffield nearly 7 years ago. I enjoy the diversity of life experience that teaching and training brings. Erasmus inspired (Austria), I did my own Celta on leaving uni and have just passed the 20 year mark as a tutor. Before moving back after a MA TESOL Master's at Manchester uni, I worked on teaching and training projects abroad inc. Bratislava, Barcelona, Belfast, Frankfurt, Manaus, CapeTown and Istanbul. I've also been out to Saudi as an External examiner and worked at various universities. I have lots of ESP experience and now teach on EAP programmes, Sanctuary and UE cultural programmes.


Family keep me on my toes, but I enjoy cinema, live music and am probably most at home outside- hiking or guerilla gardening with some yoga in between. I'm trying to keep up learning Spanish in a local pub (mostly through songs and a charismatic Venezuelan teacher). Many of my friends and family are abroad, so have been out to New Zealand, Hong Kong and Rwanda in recent years.

I'm looking forward to working with you and hope you'll find the course inspiring. It's a chance to experiment, reflect and practice and will perhaps spark directions for new chapters.

My name is Zsofi. I'm one of the tutors on the CELTA course. I did my CELTA and DELTA a while ago and spent more than a decade travelling and teaching in various countries. I’ve been at the ELTC for a couple of years now teaching a wide range of groups and training on CELTA.


Things I like: In my free time...I don’t even know where to start as I’m interested in so many things. What I probably like most is pottery but I’m in for any creative projects really. I’m not very good at pottery yet but it’s all about the journey, isn’t it? 🙂


My reason for doing CELTA: I love training and seeing how trainees grow their confidence in teaching. I also enjoy how much we learn from each other.

I live by the sea in Scarborough and am something of a nature nerd. For work I'm a science journalist/ communicator. I'm here because I've volunteered at an English 'conversation club' for a couple of years and thought I'd try make a go of professionalising myself in this area, to be of more use to people.

]]> 2026-01-16 10:31:27 UTC https://padlet.com/z_tarjani/e48y3irnaegcj3sd/wish/3753381714 Laura https://padlet.com/z_tarjani/e48y3irnaegcj3sd/wish/3753566704 Hello, I'm Laura and live in Hemel Hempstead.  I've worked for the NHS for over 16 years in various admin roles.  This has given me a lot of flexibility to fit work in around family life.  I've been interested in doing the CELTA course for some time but never followed it up.  However, following a recent unexpected illness I had a lot of thinking time and decided that when I was better to pursue the CELTA.  I've always enjoyed learning and have an interest in languages especially Italian and French.  At this point, there are no plans for a career change, but I'm just going to see where the course takes me and on the way 'add another string to my bow'.

I've enjoyed a career working with Deaf students and their families and have always had an interest in language and communication. The Celta is something I've thought about doing since I was a youngster. As well as keeping my brain cells ticking over I'm hoping it might open up some opportunities for doing something meaningful and maybe be a way to combine working and travelling (with a wee bit more walking).

I'm a self employed editor/publisher producing a couple of trade magazines for the decorating sector. In past employment I've lived around the UK and also in Jersey and in Delhi.


In previous roles I've delivered coaching and mentoring and also delivered management training courses which I thoroughly enjoyed and gave me some experience of teaching adults.

My husband and I both run our own businesses, so we are flexible, and our children are now young adults. So we may have bit of life change! I wanted to study CELTA to potentially work abroad in the future.
