This train represents the early trauma experienced by the main characters Father. It is the cause of an accident that led to Ashoke's injury as well as his deep connection to the author Nikhil Gogol, which he soon named his son after. His father decided to tell Gogol that experience when Gogol found himself stuck after a train incident himself.

The yellow skyscraper represents her life in Boston and how she was comfortable in the busy city. The yellow house represents her movement to a more simpler life in the suburbs in which she is not comfortable with. The pink plane represents her journey from India into a country in which she does not want to be in. The blue ring represents the bond between her and her husband that is not too strong. The blue baby boy represents Gogol, their first born. The pink baby girl represents Sonya, the second born child. If Ashima were to be given the plate now these would be her options

First we made the immigration from India to United States to represent the difficult journey of leaving her loved ones and learning how to raise a family on her own. Next, we made little baby Gogol, in the United States because he was born there instead of India, and had to struggle with being born in a different culture, especially when deciding his name. Then we made the letters USA because the baby took up the whole country and we wanted to make sure people knew it was USA. Then, we made a question mark very big because there are a lot of issues that arise with the name of Gogol because normally, the Grandma in the Indian culture names the new born baby but the Grandma did not send the letter in time. So there are many questions whether or not his name is legal, especially when it's time for him to start school. Ashima also never receives closure from her Grandma because she thinks the letter is lost in the mail, and never hears from her again. The last symbolism of the question mark is Ashima now has to learn by herself how to raise a child without help from her mom and family because they are still in India.

This scene shows the death of Helen Burns, one of Jane Eyre's only friends at her boarding school far from home. Helen Burns was one of the only people that Jane connected with, and her death was one of the sadder moments so far in the book. Jane laid down in the crib in Miss Temple's room with Helen and they slept in eachothers' arms for Helen's last waking moments on Earth. Helen's death and the death of other girls at the school brought attention to the poor conditions the girls lived in, but could not change the fact that Jane had lost her beacon of hope in such a bleak place.

The red box with the ghost and the stool in it depicts the red room that Jane describes. The ghost depicts the haunting atmosphere of the room, as it is the room where her uncle took his last breath. Jane believes that her uncles prescense can be felt within the four red walls, allowing the ghost to also represent his being. The stool was where Jane sat for hours on end(at night), left alone in this dreadful room; even her aunt refused to be in this room alone during dark hours.

Jane Eyre explores the themes of gender relations and social class during the late 1800s. Wealth presented a very different reality to women than the reality it presented to men. Wealth was presented the ultimate freedom for a man, and presented women with not much more than a luxurious cage. The green crown represents the freedom & control wealthy men possessed, the green duct tape over the woman's mouth represents the silence of a life that while full of riches, was not full of freedom

The most significant piece of the book and the main character's story is his name, or so far at least. The main character had been named "Gogol" after the parents had settled to put their child's "pet name" on the birth certificate rather than choose a legal name. Gogol ended up changing his name before going to college. Our picture is of a birth certificate with the original name "Gogol," with a question mark under it because of the long term question of what to have as a name.
