Alexander was great because of his many accomplishments including never losing a battle, uniting Greece, and spreading culture. He had all power and he was worshiped as a god. He was respected by his peers and his underlings. To further deepen my reasoning, he made Greece strong and warded off enemies. He unified every nation he conquered strengthening their armies and their citizens to create a formidable nation. I will admit this message is biased so I must equal it out by explaining the bad things about him: He was just one man. No matter how strong you are or how well you reform a nation one man cannot do much to fight against civilization.

The only reason I could see him being not great is that he was stupid. Plain and simple. He killed his own armies and generals. This is not bad because of the killing but because he killed people who would make him stronger.

He was considered great from his conquering (never lost a battle) and started the Hellenistic Age. He is considered terrible because he killed 6000 people, and he enslaved 20,000 people. He also didn't let the Egyptians see Alexandria and made them build it.

Ok, so he might have been affective, but look. He bailed on a plan to build a city, and only greeks were allowed to stay in Alexandria, although it was the EGYPTIANS that built it. He also killed 6,000 men and enslaved 20,000 women and children so they wouldn't rebel against him.

People call him Alexander the Great because he concurred lots of land and took over the Persian empire. Also many people saw him as a savior.
Other people call him terrible because in Greece he destroyed Thebes and killed 6,000 men. Then he enslaved 20,000 women and kids. Also, In egyot he clamed himself the Pharoh because he was "the son of the gods."
Overall I think he is okay.

bad - he didn't do anything for nurturing his empire, he plagiarized his father and other cultures! HE EXECUTED HIS OWN GENERALS!!!
good- he made an empire and united Greece, showing others of greek culture, unifing the places.

I think he is not as great of a person people thought he was. My reasons for that are Egyptians built the city Alexandria but they were never allowed in. He also claimed himself as the Son of Gods which upset many people especially Egyptians.

He wasn't awful, but he wasn't amazing. He did some very harmful things, but also helped. He forced people out, and forced them into slavery. He pretty much just threw everything onto his soldiers. So...

Alexander the OK! He didn't build up his army he just inherited it, he had a short temper, and he was a bad person overall but he was effective (Kind of). He never lost a battle, he was an excellent conqueror but when he died he didn't appoint anyone to rule after him. All he said was the strongest person could have his kingdom. Like I said, Alexander is ok.
