It spread through warfare and debt, becoming institutionalized in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.</p><p><br></p><p>The transatlantic slave trade from the 16th to 19th centuries forcibly brought millions of Africans to the Americas, particularly in the Southern U.S. This reliance on slavery contributed to slave riots and even the American Civil War.</p><p><br></p><p>Human rights movements in the 19th century led to things like the British Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 and the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Although slavery is not seen widely today, modern forms of human trafficking persist today.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The British colonies distributed around America (and had made a living there) were upset by the inability to be able to spread further westward to trade with other countries and the high rate of taxes they were getting. their reasoning being that since they were colonists, they were not represented in the British Parliament. Tension between the colonists and the British soon led to war.  </p>]]></description>
