At my farm we rotate the crops every two years to keep the crops growing sufficiently. We commonly have corn and beetroot in a rotation to keep the soil fresh and more crops grown. Without it people could potentially be starving and constantly hunting for food. Farms would fail and there would be a huge need for an artificial way to create food. Eating artificial food would create even more unhealthy eating habits that would create even more of a problem than there is currently.  
Having natural food grown and mass produced is way more important than most people would think it would be.
