-The New Jersey Plan had a one house, unicameral, system that gives each state one vote. This system was inherited by the Articles of Confederations. William Paterson , the man that suggested this plan, wanted to keep the freedom he gained when he joined the United states.

-Congress, in this plan, was aloud to regulate taxes based on the population of the states, 1 per free individual and 3/5 of slaves in the state.

-Congress could also elect a group of people that was considered the executive branch. These people could not be re-elected and could be recalled by congress when requested by the majority.

The New Jersey Plan:

The New Jersey Plan was more favored by the smaller states, mainly because they felt as if they had equal representation. The New Jersey Plan is also called the Small State Plan or the Paterson Plan, it's named the Paterson Plan after William Paterson who presented this idea at the constitutional convention on June 15th, 1787. The larger states felt that their people wouldn't be well represented with only 1 vote per state, that their thoughts and opinions were being suppressed to one single opinion, losing their self of singularity. This is a picture of William Paterson purposing the New Jersey Plan at the Constitutional Convention.

Presented by William Paterson, the New Jersey plan was unicameral and was favored by the smaller states. Something good that came out of it was the fact that the congress still had the power to regulate trade and levy the taxes. But, it was not a plan favored overall because people would not be represented well with only one vote.
