Was the Berlin Blockade the start of the Cold War?

No. However, it was a contributing factor that made the war worse. Before the Berlin Blockade, there were other factors that started the war.

Though the Berlin Blockade did not cause the start of Cold War, it aggravated the situation and that the Berlin Blockade happened because of the Cold War. The Cold War happened because US and Soviet Union wanted to proof their power as well as the US preventing communism from spreading. From the Berlin Blockade and Airlift, it caused Soviet Union to be humiliated as it proved the strength of the Western powers, showing the strength of capitalism which also shows that communism is weak.
However, the Truman Doctrine was believed to be start of war as it trigger the war as it was the declaration of the cold war as how the US decided to contain communism.

The Berlin blockade was not the start of the Cold War. The events prior to the Berlin blockade such as the Marshall Plan have already started the Cold War.
The Marshall plan was a major realisation of the economic aid to European countries, including Soviet Union’s satellite states.
The Soviet Union responded by setting up Cominform and Comecon to unite and manage the communist states in Europe. These actions from the two parties are a form of acting against each other’s interest. Therefore, confrontation between the US and Soviet Union have already occurred during Marshall Plan. The Berlin blockade on the other hand, was merely part of the future series of conflicts between these 2 parties.

I think it started the Cold War to an extent. Taking into consideration other factors such as the Long Telegram, The Iron Curtain speech, The Truman Doctrine and the Marshall plan. Leading up to the setting up of Cominform and Comecon to counter these. Eventually, this led to the appearance of two opposing blocs in Europe. So, these also played a major part in the start of The Cold War. The Berlin Blockade however, also contributed to the start of The Cold War. I say this because this was the first confrontation between The Powers and Soviet Union and hence, I feel it played a part in the start of The Cold War but only to an extent as there were other factors as well.
