i think skills trade is a good option for someone who struggles a lot with academics, or as a job when you are already retired, or even a hobby. These people that come to talk to us about going to college probably went to university. they are trying to show us other career options but they should Ben showing university career paths. But I already made the decision that I'm going to university, so these presentations have no effect on me whatsoever.

While I only got to hear half of the presentation I understand the gist of what he was getting at. People think college will help for nothing they think that it's for people with low marks. He was educating us on how great college can be, but I've made my decision of going to university just like my parents I don't want to go to college as "tempting" as it may sound to get paid to go to school that should be your decision not because your getting paid you should want an education for yourself. The presentation was persuading and very informative but my mind is made up (for now) things change I don't know where I'll end up but I do know, right now my goal is to go to university and the presentation has not changed that.

Today skills Canada showed me that skills trade is a great thing for people that struggle and don't do well in school as books aren't for everyone. For example, if you don't do well in school but you are good with your hand's skills Canada can help you a lot. This has shown me that not everybody was made for a life of knowledge because if they were who would fix our cars or electricity. Today I realized that I don't need to get a university degree to get a good job that pays well. I don't know if I want to go to college or university but I have 5 years to decide that.

Perhaps the skills Canada guy told others about career options that they were interested in and opened their eyes to a new world. But for me, I've already got my mind set and my life planned. If something goes wrong, that's okay too, but personally, from his presentation, I have no other opinions, and the jobs he mentioned aren't for me. The jobs listed are for people that like spending hours creating/fixing things, and have a math problem-constructed brain. He didn't in the least change my mind, well from what he showed us. I'm pretty sure he only showed us career options for technologies, construction and work projects; I'd really like to see some of the other jobs. Scientists? Doctors? Designers? Lawyers? Those are also important and I wish I could have gotten a whiff of that. The pay for some were also very good, but why settle for something you GREATLY dislike just for money? I want to enjoy my work and make this world a better place. His presentation was informational about SOME types of jobs out there, but there are always more options that suit everyone differently. Seeing his presentation just reinforced my own career possibilities, and shut down many others. Thanks! I learned a lot about other jobs, though. And that college is also a good option, as well as how university isn't for every job or every person. All in all, my mind is not changed in the least bit.

What I learned from the guys is that to be successful is not to be what your parents want you to be ex: lawyer and a doctor, but something that you enjoy and it makes you happy, money can probably be on the back of your mind as long as you like what you doing. He also talked about how the skill trades go into different categories (5) and they provide many jobs and there is probably going to be one that you like and that there is other paths then just college like an apprenticeship were you get payed to got to school. So what I learned is that there more options for jobs then meets the eye.

The point of having Skills Canada come was to show us the different possibilities when we go out in the world. This was to show us that we don't really have to go to university to be successful and make money. The guy wanted to show us that we do not have to do the average job. If we want to we can start working a job in high school. He showed us different jobs that can interest us. This was to show us that we have other options in life. The guy came to show us the different opportunities that we have. To show us that we don't have to go to university to travel and make money. The guy also said that it depends on the type of learner you are and the job you are aiming for. College is for people looking for a hands-on experience. Whereas university is less hands-on. The point was to show different jobs that we can do and travel while being paid moderately well. This was to open our eyes and an endless road of possibilities. I personally want to go to university, probably since i have no interest in these jobs.

Today a volunteer from Skills Canada had come into our school to present the idea, to us as intermediate students, that there are many more job opportunities in to world than we may actually think. The volunteer explained different possible career paths, and how to accomplish your goals along that path. He introduced the idea to us that university is not the only post secondary education out there. You may go into apprenticeship, go straight to work, or go to college. He listed many of the possible jobs in the Skill Trades. He had also mentioned that the jobs in Skill Trades also do pay well. The volunteer showed us a list of job opportunities available around the country, and even nearby our home city (Mississauga). Skill Trade workers are needed every where. It may even be easier to get a well paying job in Skill Trades, rather than going to university and having a degree, as the volunteer had mentioned. The volunteer from Skills Canada had opened up my mind to exploring different career paths to finding what my passion truly is. I really appreciate that he had come to spend the time with us today to help the next generation of workers.

He showed us a presentation to explain all of the available job opportunities that were available such as an airplane engineer, tv host etc. To be honest, no matter how many presentations you give me it will never change me from stopping my dream to go to university. Even though a lot of the jobs do pay well (more than an average person in ontario), they were not along any of my interests in the future I would like to be either a pharmacist, or a medical engineer with to take both path you will need university. It might be easier to get away with not going to university but in my opinion it is just not the right path for me.

This morning, someone from Skills Canada came to speak to us about different careers involving the skill trades. I've been taught that to succeed in life you have to take courses like math and science and go to university to become a doctor, a lawyer or a teacher. Although from this presentation I learned about different jobs where you need more hands-on experience and less time in a classroom writing notes. He opened me up to jobs that require less time, less money and that pay more. Jobs that I've been taught to be "unrealistic" seemed to appear more realistic to me. He taught us that you don't have to go to university right after high school. You could go into an apprenticeship, go to college or apply for a job.
Some people think that the jobs presented to us by that representative from Skills Canada are mostly for people who have a hard time paying attention in class and want to pursue a career without spending much time in a classroom, but I think that any of these jobs would be great options for someone with that passion for a certain job. Although I still think that if I wanted to be something that didn't pay as much, if it would take more money and would be harder to pursue, that presentation wouldn't have changed my perspective of careers much, because if I have a passion for a certain career path, I would do anything to pursue it.

Today, a man from Skills Canada spoke to us about different job opportunities we could have depending on who we are. Also other opportunities we have in life. He explained to us about different jobs where we could get hands on experience and what we could do instead of going to university. However, from this I thought that this would be a better option for those who struggle. There are things not meant for certain people. Yes, the pay with these jobs are more than an average person and how it's a more hands on experience. However, my thoughts still haven't changed and I have no interest in those type of jobs. I have been opened up to other possibilities but I probably will choose not to take those possibilities. I already have a path set in mind. I learned that you don't have to do something because someone is telling you to do so. Like my grandma nagging me to become a doctor who eventually stopped *cough after a few years. However, the thing is everyone will struggle in some form or another and that is why we have a choice for our own plan ahead.

This morning, a worker from Skills Canada came and spoke to us about a few career choices that most of us would've never even considered taking on. He told us that these jobs would be very needed in the future and that they would pay rather well, all while you are doing the things you love, and putting your skills to work. Although this may seem pretty amazing, i have my mind set on what i want to do. It may seem a little unpractical but i want to go to university, even if it seems like a waste of money to some people. In the end if i'm competing for a job with someone that has the exact same skills as me, and the only difference is that i have a university degree, i am most likely to get the job. It may seem a little unfair, but those who have university degrees have a higher probability of getting hired for a job. I want to be successful when i'm older, i know that can be achieved from just a college degree, But i want those small perks that a university degree will give. In the end, the presentation didn't change the fact that i want to go to university.

He also spoke to us about different jobs that come under skill trades and their salary annually. I learned many new things about the skills trades like if that certain jobs in skills trades can allow you to work in any province or territory. This presentation opened my eyes to many different jobs many of us have probably never even heard of for example a fitter. Before when people talked about skills trades jobs I thought that those types of jobs were ok paying jobs not well paying, but after he talked about the salary for skills trades jobs I was actually surprised about the money they earn annually. Now that I am entering high school and I don't know how I will fair, for now I will just put in my best and do well and consider my options in grade eleven and twelve.

Today (Thursday Jan 12, 2017) we were visited by a individual we called Mr. Minhaz. This individual hailed us from Skills Canada and presented to us the many skilled trades that we may have over looked. Today we were taught that there are many different careers within the category of skilled trades. All the skilled trades that we have been presented with can be fit into the 5 main sectors of Skilled Trades these are: Construction, Industrial, Motive Power, Services, and finally Technology. I believe the main point that he said throughout his statements were that going into university and spending thousands of dollars on Tuition, Books, as well as other hidden costs. Mr. Minhaz also debunked some myths about skilled trades such as they at for people who are dumb however it is quite the contrary given the fact that to be in the skilled trades you need to be able to think creatively and be able to solve problems with ease and if your IQ is on the lower side you would not be able to do that. He also spoke about how being in a Skilled Trade will give the ability to have 45-50% greater net-income then the average Canadian this also debunks another myth about skilled trades which is that you will not make enough money in skilled trades to even survive for basic needs which is yet another myth that has been proven extremely wrong.

I do believe that the Skilled trades route is definitely a path which will yield rewards, However given the career route that I would like to take which is robotic engineering a university degree will definitely give me a leg up over the competition in the Job market today.

He also informed us about the other options you have after high school which are you could go to college, you could go into apprenticeship, or you could go straight to work. It might also be easier for you to find a job if you go into Skill Trades because there are many options and positions open to you.

A presentation about a unique set of career choices was perfect for us, the future society that the world depends on. It revealed many choices that I, and many other students didn't know of its existence. This reveals an opportunity to open our mind to other career decisions that we had not thought of doing, and may spike an interest in new activities. In doing so, this helps shape the future of the world and the economy it is built upon. With this grand range of careers presented to us, and a diverse set of interests that each student has, we may be able to ensure a balanced economy, and a well-being for others, one job at a time.
Personally, I had not much interest on the careers presented, despite the number of options displayed. It mostly consisted in handy-work an de fixing objects. I, myself, don't personally enjoy working with puzzles but I'm sure that within the number of students that attended, there were some students that had a lot of interests in the Skill Trades Canada program.

Choosing a career path in the future is something that I feel is very important in who I will become and how I will live my life. I want to enjoy going to my job and enjoy the life I will live. Skills Canada showed me that university is not the only path in my future, but I still want to continue my education the traditional way, and further my opportunities. I feel that continuing in university will open up more doors in finding my job, also considering that my preferred career later on is majoring in science or medicine. Skills Canada showed me that majority of my options would be in technology / auto mechanics ( and different occupations in those fields ). I enjoy working with technology, but I don't think that it is the right choice for me in the next couple years. I did enjoy the presentation, but I wouldn't really consider it.

He talked about all the different jobs and opportunities there are waiting for us in the future. Personally, I found the presentation truly amazing. It was just scintillating. Every single job on that brightly lit smart board screen caught my interest. I was untenable against my curiosity. When I first saw all those jobs I immediately wanted to do all of them. Unfortunately, I'm not ubiquitous My most preferred part of this amazingly well made presentation was when he talked about each of the 3 individual jobs. Throughout the presentation, I kept imagining myself as one of those apprentices. It's weird... I know. Overall, I truly did enjoy the presentation and I hope he comes next year.

He talked and explained how there is not only one path to achieve something amazing. He showed us some people that enjoy their job and make money. Also every job was shown on the smart board so it would show us the different paths we can take. He explained everything and wanted good for us to, no one would just waste their time, mostly from Skills Canada. And the best thing was how he used his words and convinced not only me but other people. Personally, I'm glad that he came to us.

Today at school we had the opportunity to listen to person who came from skill trades Canada. The person who came to talk to us about the skilled trades talked about the different types of jobs you can work in because there is a wide variety of jobs to choose from. The good thing about working in the skilled trades is that you have the choice to do a apprenticeship instead of going to college or university, you can get a good/decent salary and the job is always in demand which is good because then you know you will always have a job. Also you can make really cool things like the guy who was making an exoskeleton because he really loved iron man and comics when he was a kid and it was really cool because it isn't something you see in real life everyday. So when I Go to high school and I am coming close to finishing it I will definitely consider getting a job in the skilled trades and in overall today it was an amazing experience and it has given me more choices for choosing a career.

I always thought that i only had the choice between going to collage or university because that's what my mom wants me to do. I would like to go to university and meet my mothers expectations but then when you think about it why would i want to spend 3-6 years in a class room learning about the things that i don't want to do in life. The presentation we had today made me realize that you can have the job that you want to have but still have a good salary at the same time which to me sounds like what anybody would want in life. With this new option i think that going to trade skills Canada would be great especially with the amazing career options that they have.

For instants, if you don't do well in school but you are good with other things, your skills can help you a lot to find a good job in Canada, or anywhere else. This has shown me that not everybody was born to be smartest person in the world, you have to work very hard to be smart, and to have good ideas in your life. Without some people today in this world we would not even have cars or people to fix our cars like a mechanic. Today I realized that their is lots of choices for me to choose from than going to university, but I would need to study a lot.

The skills Canada person did a really good job explaining everything about the trade skills. I personally have no idea what I'm going to do in the future. My parents (like all other Indian and Asian parents) Want me to exceed. They want me to go to University and we're planning to put me in IB in Xavier in high school. But after this presentation I'm not sure if I need to/want. MR. MIgdal said IB was only useful if you were going to a University in another country, which I'm not. So it's kinda pointless for me. But I don't want to tell my parents that. The trade skills are another possible path for me to take as they pay well and for most you only have to go to college. Today's presentation mostly confused me but at least I can tell my parents about and use it to convince them that IB might not just be the right thing for me.

I somewhat had a plan of my own about what I wanted to do, in terms of school and sorta job wise, then after this, i don't know. I think that it would have been less confusing for me if the job i wanted to to was there (not sure if it was, i was sitting at the back) and if he explained about it, but i think it actually helped me a lot because he talked about a lot of other jobs that would be fun and also, when he talked about the different payments, that also helped. One thing that i loved about that presentation was the part where he talked about being an apprentice. That part really had my mind going.

I thought the presentation given by Mr. Minhaz from Skills Canada was amazing. I learned about jobs I had never heard of before. Before he came, I thought I was going to become a doctor, because my mom wanted me to become a doctor. I kind of wanted to be a paleontologist, because I have an interest in dinosaurs. But she told me that paleontologists get paid horribly, have to survive in the woods without resources, and they have to climb halfway up mountains without harnesses and dig. Eventually I gave up on paleontology. But after I saw this presentation, I found interest in mechanical engineering. I thought that the exo-suit that the engineer built was really cool, and I think that maybe I could do something like that one day. That is what I would like to do, but I still have to convince my mom. Wish me luck!

Today we had a man from skills Canada come in and talk about the opportunities we have in careers, and what we must study to get to what we want to do in life. He talked about the salary and the job opportunities there are. I cannot agree with everything he says. Just like you Mr. Migdal I feel like the man that came, was trying to tell us to go to college because it taught us how to work. I cannot tell you how out of place I felt while this presentation was happening. We sat down at library for an hour and listened to someone who felt very confident that college was the right thing for everyone. I felt out of place, in a sense where I disagreed with what we were discussing. I thought that we talked more about colleges than an equal amount of universities. The man that came in did not talk about the opportunities that universities have. I had high hopes of learning of all possibilities not just some. As many of you know I have a strong feeling about universities, and so I feel that if he had talked more about these different things that universities also provided, I might have been more interested in what we talked about. People now a days think that if you chose college it means that you aren’t going to have that much stress with your studies but that’s not true! If school was easy then we wouldn’t be having this conversation, homework is stress and just because somethings are harder does not make them the wrong option. If you want to go to college, then go to college. If I end up in college, it’s because what I am looking for is found there. People that go to university are expected to exceed because university is a place of the highest expectation. The presentation was eye opening showing us the different careers; like the one lady that followed her mothers foot steps and worked in the business of making airplanes. But I think that I know what I want to do and be at in the next 8 years.

This morning a man from Skills Canada came in and talked to us about how we should take into consideration a career for our future. Life without work is not possible. Work is something where we discover our self and our talents. As he talked about various jobs, I was amazed how many there were. In my opinion this didn’t benefit me a lot because I always wanted to become a nurse or a teacher. The topic was about mechanical work, which wasn’t interesting for me but, it may have bee an advantage to other people if they were into mechanical fields. There is no best way to learn and everyone learns differently. Each mind receives and processes information in a different way. The three main styles are visual learners, auditory learners, and reading/writing learners. This does not mean that one person is better than the other. Furthermore, I think it is great that there are multiple jobs that people can do. Everyone is different and unique in their own way. The most important thing is that you enjoy doing your job. It doesn’t matter if you are a successful doctor or lawyer, as long as in the end your job makes you feel like pushing yourself to succeed more!
