Pearl Harbor:

- Pearl Harbor is an active military base, headquarters of the Pacific Fleet, and a National Historic Landmark that's home to four unique attractions. Pearl Harbor is best known for its military attack in 1941.

Diamond Head

-The diamond head rises 761 feet about the Waikiki beach. The crater formed after a volcanic eruption more than 100,000 years ago. A type of rock called tuff, formed of ash and volcanic particles, cemented its walls. 19th-century sailors who mistook crystals for diamonds provided the name by which it’s commonly known. Hawaii now oversees a 475-acre state monument on Diamond Head and maintains a trail system that enables you to hike to the summit.

Climate:

- Rainfall averages between 25 and 30 inches a year. The islands receive as much as 15 times that amount in some places and less than one third of it in others. The endless variety of peaks, valleys, ridges, and broad slopes, gives Hawaii a climate that is different from the surrounding ocean, as well as a climatic variety within the islands. It does not have the extremes of cold winters and summer heat waves and it usually does not have hurricanes and hailstorms. However, Hawaii's tallest peaks do get their share of winter blizzards, ice, and snow. Highest temperatures may reach into the 90s. Thunderstorms, lightning, hail, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and droughts are not unknown.

Since millions of people visit Hawaii every year, it is easier to keep people informed on ways to positively interact with the environment. One positive way that people impact the environment is that people are able to realize the endangered species and protected areas which leads some to take action and spread the information throughout the population of natives and tourists. This can benefit Hawaii's wildlife and the land everything lives on. People also interact with the environment by wearing certain clothes like shorts, tank tops, and swim suits, to adapt the climate of Honolulu.

ENVIRONMENT MODIFICATIONS

In Honolulu, humans modify the environment when they invade or inhabit and area of land. In most cases there are species of wildlife living on that area of land and when the humans come in, they put the wildlife at risk of extinction. Extinction of a species of plant or animal modifies the environment greatly.

ENVIRONMENT ADAPTATION

A way humans adapt the the Honolulu environment is through the clothing they wear. People wear cool clothing like shorts for the hot climate of the islands or in cooler times of the year they might wear clothing that keeps them warm, like long pants. People have also adapted to Honolulu by installing air conditioning and heating units in houses and building.
