         <description><![CDATA[<div>23. The crowd nearly attacks the duke and the dauphin when they end the show after only a brief performance.<br>24. As the duke and the dauphin tie up the raft to work over another town, Jim complains about having<br>to wait, frightened, in the boat, tied up as a runaway slave in order to avoid suspicion, while the others are gone.&nbsp;<br>25.&nbsp; After finding Wilks’s money in the basement they added $415 of their own money when they<br>discover that the stash comes up short of the letter’s promised $6,000.<br>26. Huck finds the $6,000 in gold, takes it to his sleeping cubby, and then sneaks out late at night.<br>27. Huck hides the sack of money in Peter Wilks’s coffin as Mary Jane, crying, enters the front room<br>where her dead father’s body lies.<br>28. Huck unthinkingly<br>blurts out that the family will be reunited in less than two weeks<br>29. Doctor Robinson again declares the duke and the dauphin to be frauds<br>and has the crowd bring the real and the fraudulent Wilks brothers to a tavern for examination.<br>30. The dauphin nearly strangles Huck out of anger at his desertion, but the duke stops him.&nbsp;<br>31. The duke initially slips and reveals where Jim really is but then changes his story and says he sold Jim to a man forty miles away.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
