Jon is the rebellious character but he takes it to a whole other level in the worst way possible. He turns everything into a negative situation with the excuse of having a crappy home life. I personally have had a pretty crap life growing up with a lot of struggles, but that doesn't mean I flip out of everyone for the hell of it. His character was irritating, not because he was created to be, but because they did a sloppy job of the character. He was the least developed.

He does not want to be judge so constantly judges people like Claire because she has a fat girl name and everything he doesn't. We get it, he is a druggy, messed up kid with mommy and daddy issues. He views the whole world as being against him. The thing is, you can do this character better by allowing those actions ans feeling to show in a less excessive way. Its almost like the writers were so desperate to make him come off the way he did that they forgot they are trying to portray an actual human.

Claire, much like Jon is the least to change during the film. She is shown as the princess of the group. She even went as far as to skip class to go shopping.

My first impression of her was that she was a drama queen. She believed that people who were in detention are defects. Claire acts like she is better than people by pretentious and somewhat snobby. She is popular and feels she needs to do whatever her friends want to do. This gives me the impression that she doesn't want to think of herself, be a brat and judge people easily.

One things I could agree with was how she mentioned the breakfast club was not going to be friends after their time in detention. Though this is a movie and of course they had to make it stereo-typically happy in the ending, if this were real, they would stop being friends most likely after. There is a silent rule or shall I say thought, that when people are just so different they can't be friends. For example, the unique/weird (not in a bad way) queer kid doesn't often hang to the average popular group unless they act "Normal and straight" or the goth doesn't hang out with the preppy girl. It's a point that Claire makes, not to rude, but to point out what usually happens.

Andrew is the jock of course. He is a bully but not because he wants to be mean, but because he wants to get his fathers approval. This character struggles a lot to find his own voice and think for himself. He wants to be seen as a cool winner his father and is shown throe his body language and the way he speaks, that he is fearful of being a loser.

He is not the brightest kid and seems like your average jock, but he is not really a bad guy. He seems more down to earth and less dramatic then the rest of the kids. I got a strong feeling that him and his father do not really know each other as themselves, but instead on what they can do. This is a toxic relationship that is easy looked over because it can easily come off as overactive pride, instead of an issue. After all the cool guy has it all, but does he really? Just like each on of the other characters there is something messed up in his life. The cool kids are almost always the broken ones. He made me feel sad, not only because his issues are less touched on, but because they could have done so much more with his character like many others in the film.

There isn't much shown to Brian. First impressions was that he was a nerd, looking for approval and the peace maker when things got heated in detention. He is in many academic clubs such as math.

He seems okay, but gets picked on at school. Its worse than what it seems though, he has more to him. His parents are obsessed with his marks and pressure him on the daily, even his little sister gets in t=on the action. He isn't one to stand up for himself and cracks under pressure. He was the approval so he lies about not being a virgin to gain respect.

Brain is not actually as shown more than a student cracking under pressure, after all that's what he is but it's seen as an "Oh, that's sad" before the movie moves on. Brain not only cracked, but fell apart and tried to shoot himself as he reveals with the group.

My reaction to his character was "Oh, well... they tried at least." It's not that he didn't have a very real story, but its not like they were planning on doing anything with his character. He stayed the same mainly and did not end up with one of the two girls of course, because nerds are just that unattractive. There is only two ways i can go, bad boy with good girl and freaky girl turns preppy with the jock. I really enjoyed his character because he was kind and even though they creators didn't do much to him.

This is a tricky character to reflect on but she does give you quite a reaction. Right away you notice that she is different and quite possibly crazy, that is until she acts slightly more normal. She doesn't talk at first aside from weird noises and she observes those around her with intense staring. She is shown to be artistic, and often steals peoples things and is revealed to be a compulsive liar.

My first reaction was trying to figure out what her story was and why she seemed so off. She did seems strange but also on a mental level she seemed off. I didn't really know what to make of her character and I and still not sure whether I like her character or not.

Most of the information I know about her is just out of blunt statements like how neglectful her parents are and due to how her parents dropped her off. She did not apparently need to be in detention, but went because she has nothing better to due. Many who have watched the film such as I have thought of her doing this as a way to connect with other people. She wants people to react to her because not one pays any mind to her at home. I think she is a character with deep roots, but sadly was made to change who she is by the end of the film.

The Relationships...Need I Say More?

These relationships annoyed me. Oh my days, did they ever annoy me. Allison and Andrew seemed to get along and he cared about her enough to start a conversation...That's it.
Although, when Claire changes Allison's appearance Andrew suddenly has feeling with each other and they basically make out... Her appearance changed, not her personality.

It just goes to show how this movie started caring about peoples personalities, but just threw it out the window in hopes that some weird girls would like the romance.

I don't even understand why the movie felt the need to do this. Oh yeah, I forgot, apparently if there are boys and girls at least one of them needs to date another. Who cares about chemistry? No one here apparently.

It's the same kind of thing with Claire and Jon. Claire seems to hate Jon so much it's painful and Jon doesn't seem to actually be into her either. Jon made really bad sexual comments at her as insults. They were not small things so someone please remind me why the hell she is wants to be with him? Out of no where it seems like, she suddenly walks up to him and kisses his neck, then gives him her earring? Honestly, the relationships in this is just as sad excuse to make in suddenly have a genre in romance.

They could have just left everyone off as friends and it would have made more sense, but, no, you can't just have a decent movie you have to ruin the whole ending.

Then there was Brain. He's still a nerd and doesn't get the girl. He's a good guy and doesn't take out his problems on other people. Yet again, another nice guy finishes last.

Great job The Breakfast Blub, you had a great concept and the rest was thrown away.
