This tsunami affected the people in Japan. Scientifically, Japan was hit by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake on March 11, 2011. Triggered a deadly 23-foot tsunami In the north country. The giant wave destroyed cities and areas alike, sweeping away cars, homes, buildings, a train, and boats, leaving a path of death and devastation in its wake. 20,000 people lost their lives on that day.

A magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck off Japan's northeastern coast, near the Tōhoku region. Tsunami waves smashed the coast, causing massive damage and flooding. The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant cooling system was damaged raising fears of a meltdown. Aftershocks continued many exceeding magnitudes 7.0.
