         <description><![CDATA[<div>The biggest impact on UK wildlife has been the intensification of agriculture.<br><br>Agriculture accounts for over 70% of land use in the UK, but the environmental damage we have suffered while inside the current Common Agricultural Policy has been significant.<br><br>Soil health has deteriorated. Numbers of farmland bird species such as the grey partridge, tree sparrow, skylark, linnet and yellowhammer have dropped. Precious UK habitats have been eroded.<br><br>Intensive farming has resulted in the loss of flower meadows, hedgerows and trees – all of which are vital habitats for pollinating insects such as bees, with knock-on effects for species further up the food chain.<br><br><strong>solution: </strong><br>In a stance against this deforestation, Stella has already developed viscose and rayon fabrics that don't endanger forests. These fabrics will be continued and extended throughout this collection.<br>"We sustainably source our viscose in a way that helps to protect ancient forests and the species that live there.          <title>2. PESTICIDES</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Another result of the intensification of agriculture has been an increase in the use of pesticides. Specific types of pesticides – neonicotinoids – were recently banned by the EU due to concern about the large scale harm caused to bees.<br><br></div><div>But they’re not the only pesticides that pose a threat to UK wildlife. In fact, many slug pellets used in gardens around Britain contain an active ingredient called ‘metaldehyde’ (a chemical also used widely by farmers) which can cause huge damage if it's not applied carefully. It can enter our waterways and into our drinking water. <br><br></div><div>The pellets can also be washed into drains or ditches, find their way into our rivers, and harm animals much larger than slugs. Like microplastics, this toxic chemical can be passed up the food chain, harming predators like hedgehogs or birds.<br><br><strong>solution:<br></strong>To use natural alternatives such as copper strips to deter slugs – or look to create an environment that encourages predators like slow-worms or hedgehogs.<br><br></div><div>On a larger scale, we’ve been looking at the UK government’s plans for a new environmental watchdog. We’ve joined calls for the new watchdog to have strong jaws and big teeth – and real targets for it to enforce, to ensure nature is protected once we leave the EU.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Less than a fifth of England’s rivers are healthy, which poses a big threat to amazing UK wildlife such as water voles and kingfishers.<br><br></div><div><strong>What we can do about it<br></strong><br></div><div>Work to improve farming practices and reduce agricultural pollution. Working with farmers in Norfolk, Kent and Greater London, help to deliver methods that will reduce the pollution currently harming chalk streams.</div>]]></description>

When you see sustainable fashion, do influencers make you want to purchase it?<br></strong><mark>AR -</mark> I think yes, because I personally do and it makes me visualise it for myself.<br><br><mark>AA -</mark> It matters, but it is more about the design for me - it depends on the product.<br><br><mark>E - </mark>Not necessarily, I like the concept of sustainability, but overall trust my own judgement.<mark><br><br></mark><strong>2. As a fellow Gen-Z, do you feel you are eco-friendly for a personal reason or a practical reason?<br></strong><mark>A -</mark> More for a practical reason, because there is a lot of information around me so I feel I have to do it.<br><br><mark>F -</mark> It's more personal for me.<br>H - A mix of both, I consider both sides.<br><br><strong>3. When you look at the communication of sustainability, where do you get your information from?</strong><br><mark>S -</mark> Social Media or Google.<br><br><mark>L -</mark> Mainly on social media from influencers who talk about this subject. I also use Google if I am interested and want to find out more information.<br><br><mark>R -</mark> I get the information from the company itself so there is no misleading content.<br><br><strong>4. When it comes to luxury shopping, does sustainability matter to you personally?<br></strong><mark>SB -</mark> I think if you are purchasing luxury then the items are not mass produced therefore I expect sustainability in the luxury voice.<br><br><mark>ST - </mark> Yeah I think it matters even more as they have more financial flexibility to implement these practices.<br><br><mark>S -</mark> It is important but for me when I make purchases I go for vintage pieces therefore feel my luxury shopping is already sustainable.<br><br><strong>5. Did you participate in Black Friday and if you did, what did you buy?</strong><br><mark>ST - </mark>Makeup from Nars with a 20/30% off discount as I know the products I bought are not restricted by how fashionable they are so won't go out of season and I know I will use them, therefore it is a long-term purchasing decision (since these products I already use).<br><br><mark>S -</mark> I bought from an Instagram brand with up to 50% off, I was shopping for immediate use.<br><br><mark>R -</mark> I bought sunglasses and a jacket which were discounted that never happens on the brands I bought from.<br><br><strong>6. How many of you actively seek out sustainability when you shop? What is your No.1 priority when you shop?</strong><br><mark>S -</mark> Quality, Design and Price are my essential priorities.<br><mark>T -</mark> The aesthetic.<br><mark>A - </mark>Sustainability is not a deal-breaker.<br><br><strong>7. For those who didn't participate in Black Friday, why didn't you buy anything?</strong><br><mark>I - </mark>I had motivation to buy, but I remembered it is not necessary as I already have clothes I haven't worn and especially because of COVID-19 where we cannot go out.</div>]]></description>
