The text is an introduction to slavery in America. The first proof of slavery in America is Rolfe's letter from January 1619. Most slaves worked in cotton fields in Southern states. The slaves were transferred in large ships and separated from their families once they were sold. At the cotton plantations, slaves were given a production quota. Some states were very feared. For example in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana the masters used whipping as a punishment. Through the 19th century, anti-slavery movements flourished in the Nothern states. Harriet Beecher Stowe, a famous abolitionist wrote an anti-slave novel.

Martin Luther King had a much more non-violent approach compared to Malcolm X, who had a much more violent approach, with the mindset “any means necessary”, even if that meant violence and more militant protests.

The two influential black leaders also had quite different goals with their protests.

The text “Introduction about slavery“ is about the logistics, usage and abolishment of slavery in America. The first known slaves had arrived in America in 1619. Slaves are transported by ship from Africa, and upon arrival, sold to the highest bidder on auctions. During the crossing, slaves are forced to endure horrible conditions, and many die from the diseases they contract.

Slaves mainly work in cotton fields, because cotton's high demand combined with the cheap labor slaves provide, is a very profitable business for plantation owners. The slaves working on cotton plantations are given production quotas and are punished if they fail to meet their requirements.

Ultimately, slavery leads to the American civil war and the illegalization of slave trade.

The freeing of slaves where the first step in the direction towards reconstruction of the southern states. The freedman bureau was established in 1865 and helped former slaves socially advance. The fifteenth amendment helped guaranteed all adult men the right to vote regardless of race.

The Jim crow laws were laws that assisted with segregation and made separation between the races automatic with separate schools and even benches. Education was hard to come by as an African American and political participation was limited. Lynching was the act of unequally punishing African Americans for things they had been accused of without even being certain. The authorities also took part in this lynching.

slavery has become a threatening problem that would tear the United States apart. the northern states had already banned slavery and the movement known as the abolitionists wanted slavery banned all over the united states. the movement found a strong voice in the republican party, and in 1860 when Abraham Lincoln won the election, a set of events were set off, which led to the bloodiest war the civil war was set off. the lines of battles led to an appointment Abraham lincoln had to do, both America and Europe forced Abraham to act to the battles which led to lincoln issued his emancipationproclamation, which granted freedom to all slaves in those parts of the south that were under northern control. the amendment was not popular in the south, but the defeat meant they were forced to accept it

Many Americans are asking themselves, now that racial inequality is back on the national agenda, is America in the middle of living in a post-racism America? Hence the election of the former president Barack Obama African-American history reached a significant milestone. Racism is structured into political and social institutions and therefore difficult to recognize directly. In the statistics, from Washington DC, a significant high number of the African-American community are involved in crime, likely because of the lower income per family and education. Since the income is lower for american families the education level tends to be lower compared to white families. In 1959, more than half of African Americans lived in poverty. In addition to the lower income, African-Americans in criminal statistics have a high number of absent fathers and low rates of marriage among African Americans, leading to many poor families.

Before the American Civil War, the United States was a country where slavery took place. It has been a much debated topic with a view to whether it should be abolished or not. During slavery, there were some black codes that the slaves had to sign in a contract. It was laws for the slaves that made sure they did as the whites wanted. These black codes were then removed and outlawed after the American Civil War, in which the Thirteenth amendment was signed. The 13th amendment contained several new laws including the abolition of slavery.

When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man, the movement against racism in the US kickstarted. The biggest of the movements was the civil rights movement, which was known for its nonviolent way of fighting against racism. However, some people thought that the fight against racial inequality could only be achieved through violent measures and these people created the group, The Black Panthers. The Black Panthers, also known as the Black Panther Party, was a political organization founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale to challenge police brutality against the African American community. Dressed in black berets and black leather jackets, the Black Panthers organized armed citizen patrols of Oakland and other U.S. cities. At its peak in 1968, the Black Panther Party had roughly 2,000 members. The organization later declined as a result of internal tensions, deadly shootouts and FBI counterintelligence activities aimed at weakening the organization.

Many of the racial disputes were easier to manage and resolve on a political level, as they were structural in many states, particularly Alabama. Therefore, having a poltiical movement - that eventuated into becoming a political party, The Black Panther Party - was a good means of asserting African American stances. In addition to this, the Black Panther Party did also manage to catch the attention of other like-minded people from other states that could assist the entire process.
