Students in the fifth and sixth grades collected the basic succulent information and recorded the planting by photos or words. Most of succulent plants are classified by genus, related to the first word of their scientific name (Latin name).

Kalanchoe tomentosa’s leaves have fur. It gives a nice smell. Although it rained a few days ago, the fur on leaves prevents its being soaking wet. Two leaves grow larger than three weeks ago. Leaves are slightly jagged. The color is dark green.

I’m quite thankful that our school held the eco-activity. This time I got a pot of Kalanchoe tomentosa, also called “Pussy Ears.” It looks like bunny’s ears. Besides being favored by people, the fine soft fur on leaves can reduce the water vapor loss and insulate the leaf from harsh external environment. I often go to succulent plant garden to take care my plant in my free time. As soon as I see my plant, my worries disappear. 408Yang,Hui-Ting

Because of its irresistibly cute form, when I saw Kalanchoe tomentosa, I was eager to take care of it. Plush “pussy ears” is soft and furry and fun to touch. On day Miss Lin asked each of us to bring succulent plants back to school for “ health check.” Most of them were unhealthy due to lack of enough sunshine, so Miss Lin decided to move our succulents back to the school garden for “ sunbathing.” It worked. Succulents are in straight and healthy; we are happy for that. Succulent plants have emotional healing effect. The leaves bear series of distinctive, pronounced ridges. It accounts for both its name "Fairies Washboard" and Haworthia limifolia, with limifolia translating "file leafed".
This stemless succulent grows in a rosette of fleshy, upright green leaves with sharp, pointed tips. It's a good idea to repot the plant every year or two because it gets rid of its old roots each spring, and giving it fresh potting mix will keep the plant healthy. A single rosette will produce quite a lot of offsets. It can be propagated by offsets. It’s a great indoor plant on sunny or bright windowsills.

I ‘ve grown the succulent more than one year.

It’s distributed in southern Africa and other tropical regions, a slow growing succulent shrub with attractive reddish-brown stems and variegated cream and green leaves. A warm dry environment is great for the plant. It is said that it can absorb the radiation of TV or computer and clean air by getting rid of indoor poisonous sustances, such as formaldehyde. I choose the plant because it’s pretty & cute. It’s a good experience to plant succulent plant.

                    60603Li, Hua-En

It is bred in Kagoshima, Japan. The brightly pink flowers bloom in sunlight; however, they close up in the evening or at night and sometimes the leaves stand straight, like “Hands front” in the evening. It prefers full sunlight, drought tolerant with ovate shaped leathery leaves. The plant is mainly propagated by stem cuttings.
