      <description>One of the most important goals of teaching economics is to teach students to THINK how to deal with real world economic problems. Despite the fact that there is no universal definition of critical thinking, we can use a statement of Michael Scriven &amp; Richard Paul (1987) and identify this as an intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. We believed that critical thinking involves identifying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to yield actionable knowledge to make effective decisions (Argyris, 1996; Giancarlo &amp; Facione, 2001; Liuetal., 2011; Scriven &amp; Paul, 2005).          <description><![CDATA[<div>1.    I initially was considering doing research related to how the fitness industry is impacted by the economy. I searched for recent, credible sources for this and was not able to find much, so I turned to current events. Because of the ongoing trade war between the US and China, I asked the question, “What impact does enforcing tariffs on imports and exports have on an economy?” After reading through the articles listed below<strong>, I hypothesized that imposing trade tariffs on imports and exports have a negative impact on GDP.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div>I found an article about South Korea’s economy that seems to indicate that reducing tariffs had a positive impact on economic growth: 1.     Connolly, M., &amp; Yi, K.
