Basil is used medically in many different ways, it is mainly used as a natural anti-inflammatory. It is similar to the compounds found in oregano and

medical marijuana, it can sometimes be used as a substitute for both.

Basil can help combat bowel inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis.

The volatile oils of dried basil arequite weak so for both cooking and

medical uses fresh Basil is better.

Certain types of doctors prescribe basil in the treatment of diabetes, respiratory
disorders, allergies, impotence, and infertility. Water boiled
with basil leaves can be taken as a tonic or used as a gargle when you have a
sore throat. Basil leaves can be used as an anti-stress agent. Chewing 12 basil
leaves twice a day can prevent stress.
