When I was younger, I had a tooth that didn't have an adult tooth under it. It never really got loose, and it started sinking into my gums. I had to go into the dentist's office to get it removed. I had to miss a day of school, my mouth tasted gross for the day, and it hurt a lot for like a week.

How this relates to my theme:

The recovery from my surgery was painful and sucked.

Example 2: Getting a TAD

Since the tooth from my last story didn't have an adult tooth underneath it, I had a missing tooth for about a year. After that, my orthodontist suggested getting a TAD (temporary anchorage device) put in place. The TAD was essentially a crank that would slowly pull the teeth surrounding the hole together. I had to make an evaluation visit and a surgery visit with a different orthodontist, which was a headache to begin with. Then when I got the surgery, I had the whole numbing experiance again. Then the orthodontist gave me the wrong TAD surgery. He put it in the wrong place in my mouth. So a week later, I had to go back and get it removed, and now I'm going through a process that takes a lot longer than the TAD.

How this relates to my theme:

I had the wrong surgery done on me, so I had to go through two surgeries in a week and a half. This shows that surgeries can go wrong, making them suck.

Example 3: Getting Pectus Surgery

On May 25 of this year, I got surgery for my Pectus Excavatum. Pectus Excavatum is a mutation that happens at birth, where my sternum grew inwards instead of outwards. The procedure would be to put two steel bars in my chest to correct this. Those bars will be taken out in the summer between Junior and Senior year. The planning process took multiple months, starting with a physical evaluation to see if it was necessary, then having to take medication a month in advance. The pain for the next month and a half was the worst I have ever felt in my life. And it was extra hard because I'm a very proud person, and I had to get help just to sit up from a slightly slanted position. I had to go through physical therapy twice a week, for six weeks. I'm better now, but that surgery really did suck a lot.

How this relates to the theme:

This surgery really pushed me to my limit, and it took a lot of will power to keep doing my best and pushing myself. I can say it was the worst and toughest experience I've ever had.
