The actual parts of Buffalo Grass that grows is actually in the soil and not on the surface, which of course has allowed buffalo grass to survive wildfires way easier. Also this grass has adapted so well that even the seeds survive due to the fact that the burs surrounding the seeds are burned instead of the seed. There's a ton of current threats to the grasslands that most people are unaware of such as; clearing, nutrient enrichment, inappropriate grazing, neglect, Ect. But A big threat that most people are aware of is how easily Grasslands have wildfires start due to climate change and other factors.
