Why: The lack of overall control of reputable sources concerning these companies and  information provided by said outlets creates a sense of uncertainty and overall skepticism for all provided information. This then poses questions for the  level of responsibility which is held by the consumer. A responsibility to not only fact check said information brought forth, but to then to fact check that information before continuing to share the information with others as fact.
Another concerning issue: Another important aspect of this issue is understanding the impact and overall consequences of fake news/information. When providing inaccurate information it can result in real life outcomes resulting from the said information. Without consequences of reporting inaccurate and unreliable information it only allows fro the continued abuse of fake news and information.

1. As false information and news spread quickly, there are not the appropriate tools that are able to verify what information is incorrect; putting consumers in a difficult situation where they can not differentiate between real and fake. 
2. Technological companies and media news outlets are fully able to tackle fake news by acknowledging that financial incentives drive false information and is a umoral privilege with no regulation leading to an increase of clicks and views. It's done for the benefit of the companies profit but not for cosumers.

Why:
-They clearly have an understanding of our psychology as consumers, and know how to use it to target our interests, which could be used to spread fake news. 
-They ultimately have more power to enact change, as owners and creators of these websites and algorithms. 
-Some algorithms are specifically designed to spread fake news in order to further an agenda, which is something that only tech companies can put a stop to. 
-Fact checking can only go so far if there’s too much information out there that will confirm the fake news.
