We had a group, on January 6, 2021,that wanted to alter or abolish the government. The group wanted to stop the vote by the Electoral College.

What is your perspective on Americans altering or abolishing their government by protesting?

Americans trying to alter or abolish their government should have been allowed because they can draw attention to their causes and hold the government to higher standards. The idea of altering or abolishing government was established to keep power in the hands of citizens and should be allowed today (in non-violent ways). One example of this is peaceful protests against police violence that have happened recently, which have drawn attention to the cause.

Americans should have to right to alter or abolish their government because it is a fundamental right stated in the Declaration of Independence. Being able to protest for a change of government is what the colonists fought for and is still being used today. For example, protests were made like the one on january 6th and others like the blm protest. They used their right to alter or abolish their government and protested for change.

I think that people have every right to change or abolish a government, because to start, the government is there to serve the people's needs, so if it isn't meeting your needs, then there is no point in keeping that government. It's in the first amendment of the Bill of Rights that we have freedom of speech, freedom of the press, so it can report on anything, and freedom of assembly, so mass protests are allowed. Those rights show that if something is wrong, we are meant to speak out. If people are protesting to change government for the better, by all means protest. Protesting should stay peaceful, since hurting others will make your message not as convincing. One could argue that violence is necessary for change, but that doesn't have to come from you. For example, the civil rights protests of the 1960s were peaceful, the violence came from opposition, and change was made.

The ability to alter or abolish government is very important to our democracy. It makes sure that the people are being represented, and nobody can have total power. When a disagreement arises, everyone should have the right to protest. However, when a protest becomes violent, I think that it becomes an issue. Even though it may spread a message better, it's still morally wrong to hurt others just because you disagree, especially when it can be resolved peacefully.

Doing this holds the government to higher standards by making it a need for them to listen to us. I think this because it still gives power to the citizens of the united states if they are not happy. Also, we can do this stuff because in many important documents that people in our history have written it says we have freedom of speech which means we can speak out whenever we want which is what altering and abolishing the government is. I also believe its an important idea because it can make the government better than not making it corrupt and other things, this can make the people happy which is the entire point since the declaration of independence it will give us the pursuit of happiness

Americans should have to right to alter or abolish the government because they live in the same country after all and they have problems too. So it isn't fair if they have to live with those problems. They should protest. But if that doesn't work out then people are definitely going to start riots so it's better to change it before it becomes worse.

I think that you should be allowed to alter or abolish the government if they are not meeting the people's needs. The declaration of Independence says that the people have the right to alter or abolish and Democracy is rule by the people so the people should have a voice about the government

My viewpoint is that an alteration or abolishment of the United States government by protest is a gripping modern follow-up of the statements by the Declaration of Independence, and on what America was founded on. It leads to change, but not the change most protests may be striving for. Basically, I wrote something in under 100 words, and it means absolutely nothing, but it works.

Americans trying to alter or abolish their government by protesting should be allowed because it is a way for them to express their concerns and show they are upset. Especially if it is a peaceful protest, I feel it is very good for people to protest because they aren't causing any harm and simply voicing their opinion. Altering or abolishing the government ideas were created so that people could change their government if they feel mistreated or treated unfairly and should be allowed today because it is a way for people to make a change to make the government, in their own opinion, a better place and it keeps citizens happy knowing they have a voice. An example of this is anti-gun protests, people are upset with gun laws in America and they are voicing their opinion, if they couldn't voice their opinion or know they could make change they would act out in violence to create change instead.
