Preparation for rebellion:

Nat Turner grew up with a big ego. He was a lot more advanced than any typical slave. He grew up thinking that he was the chosen one, that God chose him. He knew this because of the marks on his chest and his abilities to read, speak, and write. Nat Turner was very religious. One day as he was praying a spirit spoke to him and said, "Seek ye the kingdom of heaven and all things shall be added unto you." This gave him much confidence and which allowed him to carry on and rebel against his and other slave owners.

Planning the Rebellion:

At the location of Cabin Pond, Nat Turner and many other slaves planned the Rebellion. He and the slaves ate a meal and took vows on killing all slave owners even women and children.

Right before setting off to their first victim:

They all eqibbed themselves with axes, guns, and other weapons. They obtained these weapons by stealing them from their enslaved home (Mr J. Travis). They all went to the cider press and drank. They stayed their for about 2 hours before heading out and killing many families

First killing: Mr. J. Travis + Family

Nat Turner and the other slaves returned from the cider press to kill their first victims. Their first victims were Nat Turner's master and his family. They entered the house very quietly and secretly trying to prevent any possible noise that may alarm the family or others in the neighborhood. Their goal was to murder them in their sleep. They entered the house. Nat Turner then proceeded to go downstairs and unbarred the door. He then proceeded to remove the guns. Nat entered his master's chamber and took the axe to Mr. Travis's head. And did the same to Mrs.Travis. They successfully killed their first Victims which was a family of 5. During this killing, they obtained, 4 guns, muskets, and 2 pounds of gunpowder.

Second Killing: Mr.Francis

About 600 yards from Nat Turner's master's house, he and his "soldiers" marched to Mr. Francis's house. They knocked on the door when Mr. Francis answered, "Who is here". Sam a slave who is part of Nat Turner's Rebellion answered that it was him and he had a letter. Mr.Francis answered the door, and he then was killed. Many blows to the head repeatedly killing him instantly. No other white people part of that family so they move on to their next victims.

Third killing: Mrs. Reeses

Maintaining the most perfect silence, they matched to Mrs. Reeses. They walk up to the door and the door ended up being unlocked. They then entered. They found her in her bed sleeping. In which they killed her in her sleep. Her son then wakes up, they killed him but it was more of a sleep to sleep death.

Fourth Killing: Mrs.Turners

They arrived right before sunrise. It was a Monday morning. Mrs. Turner's house was located about a mile from Mrs. Reeses. Once they arrived a couple of Nat Turner's "soldiers" went to the still to find Mr.Pebbles. A slave known as Austian shot him. The rest of the group went to the house. The family hiding inside, and the door locked, one stroke of the axe opened it up. Mrs.Turner and Mrs Newsome were in the middle of the room. Mrs. Turner was immdiatly killed by one stroke of the axe. And Mrs.Newsome was dragged and then struck in the head with a sword numerous times. They then destroyed some of the property, searched for money, and ammunition.

Fifth Killing: Mrs.Whiteheads + Mr. Margaret

The group of slaves split up between Mrs. Whiteheads and Mr. Bryant and than were gonna meet back up at Mr. Bryant's. As they got closer to the Whiteheads house they noticed Richard Whitehead in the cotton patch. They then killed him sending him to an untimely grave. As they go towards the Whiteheads house. Nat Turner and others noticed someone run around the garden as if they were warned what was going on. It was the servant so they left her alone because the whole family was already dead except 2. Will one of the slaves went inside and pulled Mrs. WHITEHEAD out of the house, then killed her with an axe. Miss. Margaret tried to hide but soon was captured and was also killed by a blow to the head. All of the slaves met again and prepared for their next victim.

Sixth Killing: Mr.Porter, Nathaniel Francis, Mr.Harris, Mr T Doyle

Mr. Porter had escaped with his family. People were warned what was going on. After splitting up, to efficiently kill these men, some slaves met Mr Doyle on the road and they killed him immediately. The other group of slaves not including Nat Turner went and killed Mr. Francis, Mr.Peter, Mr. Barrow. As Nat Turner headed to track Capt. Harris but his family got the message and escape also. The group of slaves destroyed the property in the house, and stole money.

Seventh Killing: Mr.Wallers + The Williams

At About 9:00 on Monday morning after killing their previous victims they marched 3 miles to Mr. Wallers. After they arrived Nat Turner sent his best armed and able to trust men to approach the house. They tried to prevent the escaping of the family. They killed Mrs.Waller and 10 children. Mrs.Williams was their next victim who attempted to escape, she got some distance but was captured. Right before her death, her husband Mr.Williams was killed. Before they killed Mrs. Williams they made sure she was punished. They proceeded to show her, her husbands mangled, lifeless body, then she was shot.

Eighth Killing: Mrs. Vaughan's

Nat Turner and his men went towards Mrs. Vaughans place. Then they murdered her and her family

The Aftermath of the Killing: (war?)

Nat Turners plan was to head to Jerusalem. They had to go pass Mr. Parkers because that was the road that led to Jerusalem. They ended up stopping their due to relations. After doing what they needed to do they walked back to the gate of Mr. Parkers a party of white men awaited them at the gate. About 18 white men were within 100 yards of the slaves. One of them fired at Turner and his slaves. Lot's wounded and much went down. Nat Turner realized that he may be defeated. He had to find another way to get to Jerusalem and over take all the whites.

The Fight Continues

After a long couple of days, loss of some of his bravest men, he reunited with the slaves that he had left but also gained many recruits from the fight that went down at the gates. No more victims to kill, all either fled or were killed. They reunited and stopped at Marji. Ridleys quarter for the night. They awoke to a loud ruckus. One of the Senitals warned Nat that they were gonna be attacked. Nat and 20/40 men (some were ordered to fled) were left to fight the rally. Many deserted Nat his numbers were slowly decreasing.

Is Nat Turner Giving up?

After they discovered a group of white men at the house they decided to hide for the night. Which they remained hiding till Wednesday. On Thursday night after Nat Turner supplied himself, he dug a hole under the fence rails in the field. Where he concealed himself for 6 weeks.

Busted and Arrested

A guy named Mr.Phipps discovered Nat Turners concealment. He loaded his gun and Nat Turner remained at gun point. Nat begged for him not to shoot and than he would give up. Mr.Phipps demanded Turners sword. And then proceeded to bring him to prison. Nat Turner is chained up and suffering.

What Nat Turner Revealed After Being Arrested:

Nat Turner said that he was ignorant and cowardly, and that he only killed to obtain freedom and money. He revealed that after Mr.Phipps had him at gun point that he knew he had no chance so he surrendered.

What Happened to Nat Turner:

Nat Turner took trial where he was convicted of "conspiring to reel and making intersection" (history channel). He was then Sentenced to death and hung from a tree.
