A series of mini-UDL activities offered by teachers in their respective classrooms and disciplines. This could be offered in the period after lunch where engagement can be featured and potentially spark ideas/creativity. It would not be a teaching activity per say, but an opportunity to showcase activities that highlight UDL options. An Open-House if you will, like a realtor doing a walk-through with potential buyers.

In our discussion on student engagement, it was brought up that our expectation for constant engagement might be too much for students to maintain every day. It is ok to learn by listening and not participating every day. It can be exhausting to be on in every class all the time. Sometimes sitting and absorbing it just as educational but we tend to downplay that when a student needs that mental break.

We had two great workshops this am on soft skills and movement in the classroom. The movement in the classroom was amazing and you could leave with ideas to incorporate it into your classroom. The presenter was inspiring and the best workshops are from our peers. It is a great way to hear from teachers we may otherwise never see or know in anyway!

After chair yoga and Good Pickin’ Farm visit, thinking about a combination of the two. Being around animals has therapeutic benefits. A workshop that combined mediation with animals, e.g. equine therapy or goat yoga, would be great.

Appreciated the effort to offer a variety of choices. The workshop on Culture got me thinking about how Westford Academy can assess culture (amongst faculty and even amongst students) and then address ways to support the strengths and work on the weaknesses.
