         <title>Man Suffers Serious Injuries after Electrocution</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>A MAN suffered serious injuries after being electrocuted at work when he accidently drilled into a live mains cable with a jack hammer.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Michael Norris, from Sandwich, was breaking up concreate at Manston Park, Columbus Avenue, in Ramsgate on the 15</strong><strong><sup>th</sup></strong><strong>October at 1.30pm. He accidently went through a live mains cable with a jack hammer, that threw him 20 foot into the air. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The emergency ambulance services were called alongside Kent Police and the Fire &amp; Rescue Service. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>A Kent Police spokesman said: “A man was treated for serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital for medical attention.”</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Norris was airlifted out to Kings hospital in London where he is being treated for third degree burns over 57% of his body. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>After 22 days on the critical care list Mr Norris’s mum, Terri Moon was pleased to give a positive update on his condition.</strong></div><div><strong>She said: “The family are happy to announce that Michael has now been downgraded from critical care and will soon be starting his rehabilitation.” </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>His sister Becky had this to say: “It was the worst day of my life, when I got the call about what happened to my brother. Then seeing him in the hospital bed all wrapped up like a mummy and hooked up to so many machines, I didn’t think he would make it through the night. But my brother is a fighter and everyday he is getting stronger, it’s going to be a long road to recovery, but he has a great support system behind him.”.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Upon speaking to Mr Norris after his release from hospital he said: “I’ve got burns over 57% of my body, 3% of my throat and voice-box has burn damage and 10% of my lungs were damaged. It is going to take years for me to recover as the burns are really bad.  I’ m now starting rehabilitation, so I’m hopeful and lucky to be alive.”</strong></div><div> </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Northern Lights come to Ramsgate</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The Northern Lights will be lighting up the skies of Ramsgate Harbour and Town for the first time ever in a nine-day, spectacular.</strong></div><div><strong>The event will take place between the 8</strong><strong><sup>th</sup></strong><strong>and 16</strong><strong><sup>th</sup></strong><strong>of December from 4pm till 10pm.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The Aurora Borealis will be created by a laser light show over the Town and Harbour of Ramsgate in a magical display. The best views of the display will be from Town Centre and Harbour.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>On the first night starting at 4pm from Harbour Street, there will be a community led lantern parade. Families are welcome to take part in the parade by creating a shooting star lantern, in the Arts Ramsgate (18 Harbour Street) to carry in the parade. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The local boat owners will be lighting up their boats to show their love and support of the town and to help raise money for the RNLI. During the Lantern parade there will be people walking around with donation buckets to help raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>When speaking to some of the locals about the event, Claire McLellan from Margate said: “Me and my three girls are very excited about the lightshow and taking part in the starlight parade.” And Sophie Bishop from Ramsgate said: “It’s a great thing that Ramsgate are doing, most people will never be lucky enough to see the real Northern lights, so hopefully this will be the next best thing.”.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The nine-day Northern Lights Laser Show has been produced by Definitive Special Project LTD especially for Ramsgate and sponsored by Ramsgate Town Council.          <title>Man Terrorised by a Gang of Youths</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>A man was terrorised by a gang of youths in Cavendish Street, Ramsgate, when they locked him in the public disabled toilets from the outside.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Ray Isaac from Ramsgate, a toilet cleaner for Thanet District Council, was cleaning the toilets on the 2</strong><strong><sup>nd</sup></strong><strong>November, when the youths bolted the toilet from the outside. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac, who suffers with claustrophobia started to panic when he realised that he could not get out of the toilet. He could hear a group of lads outside and overheard one say: “He will start screaming in a minute and banging the door.” while the others laughed.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac, called his employer, who informed him that they could not get anyone out to him for at least 30 minutes. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>He decided to call his wife Jean who said: “I could hear the panic in his voice, so I knew he wasn’t joking. I sent his son down to let him out, while I stayed on the phone talking to him, to keep him calm.”</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>After being locked in for 15 minutes Mr Isaac was free after his son let him out but was shaken up.</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>He said: “When I took this job, it never crossed my mind that something like this could happen.”. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac’s team manager, Mrs Christine Constable said: “Since the incident Thanet District Council have taken measures to keep their employees safe by issuing them with panic buttons, which they are to carry at all times and by placing GPS trackers in the work vehicles.”</strong></div><div> </div>]]></description>

         <title>Man Found Dead in Public Toilets </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>A man was found dead in the public toilets in Margate, with six hypodermics needles hanging out his arms.</strong></div><div><strong>The body was found in the toilets of Harold road, on the 16</strong><strong><sup>th</sup></strong><strong>October. The smell of heroin was still lingering in the air. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Ray Isaac, the Thanet District Council toilet cleaner, was finishing off his rounds when he went to clean the disabled toilet to discover it was locked. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>After repeatedly asking whoever was inside the door to open it. Mr Isaac followed work protocol and used his own key. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>To his horror, he discovered a dead man humped over the toilet with six needles hanging out of his arm. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac, checked for a pulse but knew by the blueness of the man’s body that he was dead, he called the police.  </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac, while giving a statement to the police said: “He was the nicest of the drug addicts that use these toilets, always making sure he cleaned up after himself. However, he had been clean for the last three weeks, so finding him like that was a big shock.” </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>After the incident Mr Isaac, suffered with panic attacks and nightmare.</strong></div><div><strong> His employer Thanet District Council (TDC) changed his cleaning route, they also offered counselling and time of, but he refused. </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mr Isaac’s boss Christine said: “We never expected anything like this to happen.” </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Mrs Christine Constable, the Team Manager for Thanet District Council said: “We will now be training our staff so that if something like this happens again, they will have a better understanding of what to do and how to handle the situation.”</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div>]]></description>
