I thought having some of the homeroom group facilitators be newbies was great -- my homeroom group was fantastic. loved the guidance they were given for debriefs. and it made them feel more ownership in the institute

Schools aren't set up for success with ex ed in action on the second day. Makes it hard for folks to really know what ex ed is and if they are an an "eh" ex ed in action, they don't necessarily have the big picture. Would also be good to identify that this isn't about holding up the host school as the "perfect" ex ed school.

would love to see programming for our ISEEN veterans -- on the PAG day, we used to have some breakouts that were more about subjects: the one I would really love to bring back is Reb or Mark from Fred C Church talking about the current landscape of risk management (this would also be useful for newbies).

The choice of hotel was an interesting one because I know we are balancing the budget and SS thought long and hard about it; however, I fear that this hotel was not of good quality in "standards" nor in location. Putting some thought into the role that the hotel / accommodations plays in the overall experience will be a consideration moving forward. The fitness room was very poor, the location offered a very limited sense of safety, and the rooms were poorly appointed.

The White Anti-racist Affinity Group experience. It was not well facilitated in my group, through no fault of the facilitator. I think that we can do more in this space to call people into the work

SS opening address was very well done, as was the closing. It was a great way to bookend the Institute

I saw the opening speaker walking around aimlessly when she arrived. She remarked about the evening having a cash bar - she was left alone. I think someone should be greeting the speakers, making sure they have what they need, and ushering them in.

The first day was very scheduled, and it was felt that there was a lot. How might we be more conscious about the experience of those traveling from afar? For example, the next day there was an hour break before dinner that was really appreciated.

On the first day, there was a BIPOC welcome at the same time as the Bar / Reception. It came across as the White reception and the BIPOC reception. We need to fix this for next year.

LGBTQ2+ lunch was not well set up, because the tables were long and hard to navigate. Perhaps it could have a little bit more structure to welcome and facilitate some connection to get the conversation going

The oak tree exercise was good for the first two interations, but everything after that was a bit too uncomfortable for many. It was a very privileged exercise, that is, though who were comfortable taking part may have had some privilege to make them feel comfortable.

The hotel cost made it very affordable and felt it was a good price point to ask to attend, even coming from Canada :)
