Question How are the author's arguments similar and different from each other?

The author's arguments are both similar by wanting to change campus carry laws. The author from "Why I would've liked to have my gun in college..." shared her personal experience of being raped at a parking lot outside her college and not being able to protect her self because of the campus carry laws. The author of "The university police..." shares his opinion that campus carry laws should be changed for students and its staff because they feel unsafe that visitors can carry with or without a permit making them victims instantly. These articles are different from each other by one sharing her personal experience and the other one being unsafe about the policy of the campus. In the article "Why I would've liked to have my gun in college..." the author says, "the choice to participate in one's own defense should be left to the individual, not mandated to the government." meaning that the government shouldn't have control when and where you could protect your self you make the decision. Also, in the article "The University police..." the author says, " and it is heartlessly arrogant to disarm potential victims." meaning that it is unfair to disarm potential victims of gun violence because of the government. The authors of both articles want us to learn we should make a difference and fight for our rights to make a difference and change these laws before we become victims too.

persuasive essay #2 should teachers be allowed to carry guns in school?

School shootings happen every year across the United States, but would you feel safe if your teacher had a gun to "protect" you? Teachers shouldn't be able to carry concealed weapons on campus because teens/kids can overpower the teacher and take possession of the firearm, or if proper training isn't enforced, then a deadly accident can occur.

Firstly, some high school students can easily overpower teachers because they are bigger and stronger making the teachers victims. If teachers have guns they are vulnerable to being stripped away from the firearm. Students are already stealing teachers phones, wallets, car keys, so what makes us think that they won't rob a teacher's gun? For example, in one case a student in Arkansas stole a teachers gun from her purse during class. Even though she had a concealed carry license, she still had charges against her for having a handgun on school property. Teachers shouldn't be able to carry because of incidents like these.

Secondly, teachers shouldn't be able to carry concealed weapons because accidents always happen and we cant prevent them making us victims also. Anything can happen when a teacher without the proper training has a gun in the classroom from accidentally shooting a student to killing one. Did he/she empty out the chamber? Did they forget to put it in safe? ANything can happen without the proper training. For example, in Utah, a teacher accidentally shot a student when she was helping another student because she forgot to take off the mag. This just shows that accidents do happen, but you just don't know when they will happen.

Lastly, teachers shouldn't be able to carry concealed weapons because the can go off like a firework at any given time or get it stolen.

Do you have a scar that has a sentimental story behind it? Physical pain is not just a paper cut or stomach pain. Physical pain is much more than that. Physical pain is harder to recover from because scars always have a bigger emotional meaning and long periods of torture can mess you up mentally which can be hard to recover from.

Firstly, physical pain like a scar can remind you of what caused that scar like domestic violence survivors that have some type of scars. This type of pain can be harder to recover from because it just means much more to those people. For example, many women that have been abused by their husband/boyfriend and have some type of bruise or scar feel ashamed by the physical pain that person has given them. Physical pain can scar you for life and damage you emotionally which is the effect of physical pain.

Secondly, physical pain can be harder to recover from because of the type of pain you are experiencing at the moment of the pain. For example, if your being tortured and you are injured you will most likely be traumatized the rest of your life. This can result from you not recovering from physical pain. Trauma can lead you to anxiety and depression which can take time to recover from in result of the torture you have experienced. Torture can be hard to recover from especially in a physical way.

Physical pain can be difficult to recover from because it can cause you to have trauma and have scars that you will never forget about.
