Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was constructed as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. The Incas built the estate around 1450 but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish conquest. Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with dry masonry. Its three primary structures are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Most of the outlying buildings have been reconstructed in order to give visitors a better idea of how they originally appeared.

https://www.britannica.com/place/Machu-Picchu

Louis XIII built a simple hunting lodge on the site of the Palace of Versailles in 1623 and replaced it with a small château in 1631–34. Louis XIV expanded the château into a palace in several phases from 1661 to 1715. It was a favorite residence for both kings, and in 1682, Louis XIV moved the seat of his court and government to Versailles. In the French Revolution, the Palace of Versailles was largely abandoned and emptied of its contents, and the population of the surrounding city plummeted.

https://en.chateauversailles.fr/discover/history#the-reign-of-louisxv1715-1774

Thomas Jefferson inherited this house in 1768. He had it torn down to create his own design. He used a mix of Neoclassical and Palladian architecture when building his home. He called his home Monticello as it means 'Little Mountain', and it is on top of a hill. He made the three story home look only as one. To do this he lowered the second story windows to the floor and the third story only has sky lights that cannot be seen from the ground outside.

https://www.monticello.org/thomas-jefferson/a-day-in-the-life-of-jefferson/a-delightful-recreation/building-monticello/
