I did not know that the sailors thought that if they sailed into the equator they would burn and die. What motivated the sailers was riches,to spred there religions,and to take land.

I learned that conquistadors appeared to be on the same side at first and then double crossed them and took their land. The soldiers who came to the new world took the land pretty easily, they used guns to care them and swords to keep the under control. The Natives had no weapons so soldiers would go into battle wearing only metal helmet and their street clothes. In the end the germs the Spanish brought killed 80 percent of the Natives who's immune systems were not yet adapted. The Native Americans were forced to give up their land and their religion.

One thing that I learned in social studies today, was that explorers from Spain, Portugal, England,and other countries traveled to the new world for different reasons. Portugal traveled just for the power. Portugal established a sailing school to help the explorers learn how to explore. The other countries traveled for different reasons like finding riches, spreading Christianity, and establishing new trade routes. Explorers also traveled for glory and fame for them or their country. That is what I learned today. (and a little bit from yesterday)
