<title>Marketing research is important for Innovation and Design as it assists to ensure that the right product is in the right place at the right time with the right price. This may impact the design boundary as the product design may need to be changed to ensure the attributes are aligned to the marketing strategy in relation to Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Some examples where the product design characteristics may be impacted include:-•	Additional product features may be required to provide a marketable point of difference over existing competitors•	Higher quality components may be required to increase the product lifecycle•	The distance that the product has to travel to its end user may impact the weight of the design to reduce transport costs•	High promotional costs may require the design to be fabricated from cheaper materials to ensure the price per unit is in alignment with customer needs </title>
