Students could use digital annotations to respond to their text and then upload to a place like Padlet to share with their peers. By using icons like question marks, emojis, etc, students can highlight important information and sections of text.
When going back to a text, they can be rereading not only the text but also their annotations.

By working with screen shots, it also allows students to work on a small chunk of reading at a time.
