A unique feature of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is the Nemesis system. Every enemy players' face is a unique individual, differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. These enemies are shaped by their encounters with the player to create personal arch-enemies who are unique to every gameplay session. Players must out think each distinctively different enemy they encounter to infiltrate the ranks and dominate within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their actions and choices.
Every enemy in the game has their own name, rank, and memory. These enemies will continue to do their own jobs and tasks even when they're off screen; the game progresses in real time even if you do not interfere, and as such an enemy you meet in one gameplay session may suddenly have achieved a higher rank the next time you meet him. If the player does not kill an enemy in an encounter, this enemy will remember the player and change their tactics and conversations based on the encounter. The enemy will also grow more powerful and learn new immunities. Killing them will also net the player more experience points.

7. Conflict :
Orks and Uruks are a violent breed of creature, and will constantly fight one another for control over the various legions of troops behind the Black Gate. Whether they happen organically or are caused by Talion, these Power Struggles are a highly exploitable way to cripple Sauron's forces of darkness.
There are two main enemy classifications, each with their own types of Power Struggle. Captains are second-in-command to the Warchiefs, and as such there are more of them - which means that standard Uruks will constantly be vying to become a captain themselves. A captain might instigate a power stuggle with another captain, or (if they're feeling particularly bloodthirsty or ambitious), they could attempt to befriend or betray a high-ranking Warchief, placing themselves in an even higher position of power.

Captain Power Struggles
Before attempting to overthrow or brand a Warchief, Talion should first either dominate or assassinate their Captains. Captains have information on other high-ranking Uruks, and can also serve as bodyguards to the Warchiefs of the region. This can work for Talion or against him, depending on the allegiance of each bodyguard - it is considerably easier to eliminate a Warchief when their own trusted soldiers turn against them.

AMBUSH
Uruk Captains will often launch surprise attacks against their rivals. Whomever wins the skirmish will increase in power.
